I've never seen anyone here saying that whoever had doubts about Brendan couldn't or shouldn't celebrate his success, or even change minds - that's a real distortion of what I was saying, at least. This whole debate began when people started to pretend things there were not true - like "I always had faith", "I always backed the manager", or "I just had healthy doubts", when in reality comments about the manager got very, very nasty here at times. But whatever. It's in the past. Changing opinions is totally natural, as long as you take responsibility for whatever you said before.

For example: I always knew Jordan Henderson would come good, I just disliked his hair. How does that sound? (Totally false, by the way ;D)

      This.

All day long, as it seeks and aptly sideswipes the lies that have been fabricated by the sheepeople in order to put their loved ones on the right side of the argument while painting those who didn't have any nasty comments about Rodgers as the wrong 'uns.

Well said mate, just beat Chelsea tomorrow, beat Palace then Newcastle and then there will be plenty of time to deliberate who was right or wrong. As for me I only want to win the league and send a video of us getting presented with the trophy to Ferguson.

I don't understand why the media feel the need to pander to Jose all the time, sure he always puts on a good show for the camera, but its not like anyone takes his bullshit seriously anyway.
I can't stand managers who have to be the centre of attention, it shows a lack of class. Just the opposite of our Man.

That's the operative word mate - ''bullshit'' - the media are on it like flies round the proverbial, since the vast majority of reporting at a certain level is predominately in that mould (have I spelled that right?) they will hover above the source incessantly.

I don't know if they do now O_R... I mentioned in another thread that they appear to be tiring of his antics and are more laughing at him than with him. He's an annoying little turd and most everyone sees that now.

Revealed: What's in a day for Rodgers?
      26th Apr 2014 - Latest News
Liverpool's intensity has received acclaim this season, but it's not just the players pressing to ensure dominance. Brendan Rodgers is also always on the move.
Positioned adjacent to the cosy, almost-enveloping black leather couches in Brendan Rodgers' office, stands a flipboard. The first page of the easel contains the inspirational words of Hillsborough campaigner Margaret Aspinall - "stress is difficult but stress is also good; it gives you a determination to fight" - in its original format, and in the languages pertinent for the squad; Spanish, French, Portuguese. The manager flicks past a few tactical spreads, and stops at the message he wants to share.

      C - Commitment
      O - Organisation
      R - Responsibility
      E - Excellence

It is the intelligence he continually communicates with his players. "I want commitment, not motivation, because motivation is fleeting, it goes by feelings," Rodgers explains in an exclusive with Liverpoolfc.com.

"You may get up in the morning and feel you don't want to do it, so what? You don't do it? If you're a life-saving surgeon and you've got five operations a day, and you work on motivation, you may be motivated for the first four, but the fifth one needs their life saved just as much, so you have to be committed to the cause."

"Once there's commitment, I will then organise a plan for them to be the very best they can be. Not for me - for them, in order to improve," adds Rodgers, as he explains this principle.

"I then say, it is your responsibility. I will give you all the tools, an elite environment, a high-performance focus, we give you the best people: medical, mental, technical, tactical and I will manage that.

"All those factors will allow you to perform to a level of excellence. I tell all the players: 'the crown is on your head, you're the king of your destiny.'"

The 41-year-old doesn't just expect those in the squad to exceed expectations, he demands an incredibly high output from himself. What's in a day for the Liverpool boss?

Rodgers is usually the first to arrive at Melwood, with the exception of the cleaners, who sometimes beat him to the complex. He enters the gates between 7am and 7.30am.

The manager will have his breakfast, research, study and prepare himself for the day. At 9am is the daily staff meeting, with key members of the technical team. This is where he sets the agenda.

Between 10am and 10.25am, Rodgers finalises his plans ahead of training.

The session starts at 10.30am and the Northern Irishman will replicate real-match situations to test and sharpen the players.Training usually ends at noon, and Rodgers then oversees the players doing gym work or whatever activity is specific to the day.

He proceeds to have lunch at the Melwood cafeteria before embarking on the next stanza of his day.

From 1.30pm, Rodgers is involved in several meetings daily. It usually encompasses opposition analysis, a full review of the previous game, sessions with Alex Inglethorpe (U21s manager), and various other catch-ups with core individuals and departments.

This will last for the entire afternoon through to the evening. He normally departs Melwood at 7pm, but is known to stay longer.

When he leaves the facilities in West Derby, his work does not stop. Rodgers makes it his duty to follow all football happenings.

"The job for me is continual," he says. "I live and breathe for football. I study it, I look to be better, for how we can continue moving forward.

"And I'm ambitious. I want the club to achieve, I want the players to achieve. I will be at the planning until I go to bed."

With all that hard work, it's no wonder Rodgers is still "sleeping very, very well."

As for Henderson, wait for it ....drumroll..... I'm still not convinced  :lmao: :lmao:. It would be nice if we could all move on Shabs. We have one of the most important games of the season tomorrow, we have a manager who has a chance of greatness, a captain that may finally achieve his ambition, supporters who can achieve their dream. We have bigger and better things to worry about than who said what when.

All this bickering about who was right and who was wrong needs to stop. We've all been right and wrong in the past, why does it matter so much now all of a sudden? We're top of the league by 5 points ffs. Why not just bicker about how many we're going to beat the plastics by tomorrow instead?

Beerbelly - it doesn't matter who it was said to, once you or the other party drops it the petty argument will stop. You was given the opportunity to be what seems the bigger man but you clearly don't want to be.

Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers: Melwood's meticulous master
       By Ben Smith
BBC Sport Brendan Rodgers has always talked a good game but this season he has finally been able to practise what he preached.

Long before he arrived at Anfield, the man from Carnlough on the Antrim coast of Northern Ireland spoke with a zeal that fans wanted to hear, journalists wanted to listen to and players wanted to respond to. But the question many asked was could he also walk the walk?

The answer has been both eloquent and emphatic. Liverpool are on the brink of winning a first league title since 1990, 12 months after they finished seventh in the Premier League. Club owners, Fenway Sports Group, had set him the target of Champions League qualification from next season.

To be welcoming his old mentor, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, to a city abuzz with title fever is an illustration of how quickly Rodgers's methods have taken root on and off the field.

Liverpool have scored 96 goals in 35 Premier League matches this season - already a club record - playing a brand of football that has captured the imagination by entertaining and, at times, enthralling the rest of the English game.

Anfield feels like a different ground this season and 15 wins from 17 home matches says it all.

But the subtle changes made by Rodgers may have gone unnoticed. The traditional red nets were restored, as was the oldest surviving 'This is Anfield' sign, which hung over the tunnel from 1974 to 1998, a period in which Liverpool won 25 major trophies, including four European Cups.

Likewise, the playing of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is now delayed until the players and, more importantly, the opponents are on the field.

The supporters have noticed the difference. Rodgers was applauded at Anfield last season but never with the acclaim that has poured from the stands this term. Now his name is sung by the Kop, while scarves bearing his image are sold outside Anfield.

Kenny Dalglish in the dugout at Old Trafford Kenny Dalglish won the league eight times with Liverpool as both player and manager

A look around Rodgers's office at Liverpool's Melwood training ground is revealing. On the walls are black and white images of past managerial masters: Bill Shankly at Anfield, one finger raised in celebration; Bob Paisley holding the league trophy aloft; Kenny Dalglish; Ronnie Moran - the men who set the tone for the club. They provided the benchmark to which all successors must aspire.

On his desk, colour-coded files hold the secrets behind the transformation - the tactical intelligence, hunting in packs, pace on the counter attack. Detail is everything and each training session is planned meticulously, with a four-day schedule designed to lead the players into game day.

He is now planning to re-lay the pitch at Anfield and those at Melwood to make them quicker, allowing Liverpool's passing even more zip.

      Nothing is left to chance.

His relationship with psychiatrist Dr Steve Peters has been vital to the club's success. The pair have freed the players from the burden of pressure and expectation, focusing on what can be controlled and ignoring what can't.

If Liverpool prepare properly, the entire squad believes it can and will beat any opponent. The fearlessness that has been a feature of their play is no coincidence.

Rodgers himself has also changed. Mind games have gone - now his players do the talking. Where once "relentless possession" was his managerial pillar, Manchester City (3-2), Arsenal (5-1), Tottenham (4-0) and Everton (4-0) were torn apart by counter-attacking football coupled with a relentless and devastating pressing game.

Rodgers's players practice the "five-second rule", in which the team press their opponents immediately on losing possession for five seconds, before easing back. They then wait for precise triggers to press again. If a pass bounces off a foot, or an attacker needs to look down at the ball - as soon as their opponents' options are limited, Liverpool pounce.

Possession is no longer the be all and end all. Liverpool are arguably at their most dangerous when they don't have the ball.

As a man-manager, Rodgers is more flexible too. In the summer of 2012, he attempted to sell Jordan Henderson to Fulham having decided he might not develop into a top-class midfielder. Martin Skrtel and full-back Jon Flanagan were told they could look for other clubs. There was even a reluctance to sign Daniel Sturridge - who has 20 league goals this season - when he was offered to Rodgers 18 months ago.

Raheem Sterling and Glen Johnson (L) of Liverpool make a goal-line clearance during the Barclays Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield. To bring back the Boot Room feel, on being appointed as manager in 2012, Rodgers requested that the red nets return to Anfield for the first time since 1994-95 season.

Now, he has created an environment where, if players impress him enough, he is willing to change his mind.

The decision to switch Steven Gerrard to a deep-lying midfield role has been one of the success stories of the season. Rather than attempting to mould the players to his vision, he has looked at their strengths and picked his team to play to their strengths not his.

Rodgers stands on the brink of achieving something special as a manager but has been preparing for this moment over a 15-year-coaching career, updating and reworking the 180-page dossier that is his coaching bible.

It is the document that convinced Liverpool's principal owners, John W Henry and Tom Werner, to employ him in 2012. It explains how he wants to play, the way in which he wants to develop young talent and his blueprint for the attractive, attacking football that has taken the Premier League by storm.

Rodgers's experience as a youth-team coach at Chelsea remains crucial to the work he does on the training field, where he spends time coaching his players individually to make them technically better footballers.

Henderson, Flanagan, Raheem Sterling, Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Skrtel to name but a few have all improved - and there is a daily commitment to coaching the best out of individuals, plus the squad as a collective.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho sits in the dug out before his team take on Bolton Wanderers in their English Premiership soccer match at The Reebok Stadium, Bolton, England. Rodgers worked under his mentor Jose Mourinho at Chelsea as youth team manager in 2004 and was promoted to reserve team manager in 2006.

Rodgers has prided himself on his ability to learn from everyone he has worked with during his career. He tells friends that being employed by Mourinho was "like going to Harvard". But his ambition has been overriding. During his time at Chelsea he was writing to England's World Cup-winning rugby coach, Sir Clive Woodward, to ask about opportunities at Southampton.

He got his chance to manage first with Watford and then at Reading, only to be sacked. It was then, in December 2009, that Sir Alex Ferguson took time to dictate a letter to be sent to Rodgers, who had impressed the Manchester United manager during his time at Watford.

Ferguson told him to keep his chin up and that his time would come. The Scot was right. It was that same talent that persuaded Mourinho to promote Rodgers to reserve-team coach. The men remain close and will meet on the touchline at Anfield on Sunday as peers and equals.

Rodgers was influenced by Mourinho, as he was by Barcelona managers Pep Guardiola, Frank Rijkaard and, going further back, Johan Cruyff.

It remains to be seen if Rodgers can write himself into Anfield folklore by doing what only George Kay, Shankly, Paisley, Dalglish and Joe Fagan have done since the war - lead Liverpool to the league title.

The gospel according to Rodgers is building to a dramatic climax.

Great read Walton, thought it was worth posting for those that can't access BBC.
