George we are currently on 54 points in the table and you have 52 "likes" attached to your posts.

If by the end of the season you have achieved less points than Brendan and he gets the sack for not achieving top four then maybe you should hang up your username and do the same.

      Up for the challenge? ;)

How many points did you have when Kenny Dalglish  got the sack, what the hell has karma on LFCREDS got to do with managing Liverpool Football Club.

Alot of useless talking here, in the end it should be like this :

He doesn't gets the UCL spot, he goes, end of.

This coming from someone who contradicts himself all the time just to suit your argument? Ridiculous.

I'm a big Rodgers fan but looking at his signings doesn't fill me with confidence leading up to a summer where we need to add a couple of new faces. In less than three years Rodgers has spent roughly £212.75m on his players. Forgetting net spend for a second, that is A LOT of money to spend on our squad. We should have far more quality than what we do at the moment. Lets have a look at the players Rodgers has brought in:

      Borini  10.4m
      Allen  15m
      Assaidi  2.4m
      Sahin  Loan
      Yesil  1m
      Sturridge  12m
      Coutinho  8.6m
      Alberto  6.8m
      Aspas  7.5m
      Mignolet  10m
      Toure  Free
      Cissokho  Loan
      Ilori  7m
      Sakho  15m
      Moses Loan
      Lambert 4.5m
      Lallana  25m
      Can   9.75m
      Markovic  19.8m
      Lovren  20m
      Origi  10m
      Manquillo  loan
      Moreno  12m
      Balotelli  16m

So our best 11 (of just Rodgers signings) looks something like this:

                                Mignolet
       Manquillo       Lovren     Sakho     Moreno

                           Can         Allen
            Markovic       Coutinho       Lallana
                                Sturridge

Others:  Balotelli, Origi, Borini, Aspas, Alberto, Lambert, Ilori, Toure.

Is the squad above good enough to win the league? Is it even good enough to finish inside the top four?

Its very noticeable to me in the team above that we are missing key players such as Gerrard, Lucas, Skrtel, Ibe and Sterling. You could even include Flanagan. If these six players are fully fit then they would all probably walk into our first 11. That's more than half a team which is quite concerning considering the money we have spent on new players. Flanno, Ibe and Sterling in particular have bailed Rodgers out in a way. Three young kids who have played exceptionally well. If they hadn't performed as well for us then maybe more focus and annoyance would have turned towards Rodgers and the signings he has made. It has been brushed under the carpet a little bit I think.

Whether we finish in the top 4 or not this season our summer dealings are still crucial.  Quality over quantity is an absolute must.

Why would you ignore Nett Spend.
And why would you ignore the fact FSG have implemented a "Buy Young" policy.
Brendan has been clearly frustrated with the refusal of those above to budge on buying proven talent when it is available.
Anything beyond that is cause not effect.

Here's a great article about the restructuring of the Academy, focusing on Pep Linjders. Interesting it says that the kids who have been coached under the current system are better than the current U21s who many have gone out on loan and are replaced by U18s (and even U16s) in the U21 games - simply because the older players have not gained the technical expertise from the new setup. Very encouraging in that the writer has seen a massive technical improvement from the current batch of U18s compared to previous squads.

Whatever you think of Rodgers, I think it's imperative that this structure is left in place whatever the manager.

Also, just to add, the results of the youth setup might not be seen now or next season, but give it time, and allow the current coahing setup to do their thing, and I'm sure it will reap rewards. Patience is all that is needed, and this Abraham Lincoln quote I read is pertinent!

"Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe."

      Or

"Give us six years to win the league and we'll spend the first four selling your best players and cutting wages"

      FSG?

Preparation is the key of course as you suggest but they're not preparing these lads for an assault on the league, they're preparing them to be sold.

Liverpool Feeder Club at the moment I'm afraid, as someone rightly put it in another thread we're no longer a destination we're just part of the journey and the person that earns the most in a lot of transactions is the middle men.

Brendan must be pulling his hair out this morning. I'm sure he's already on the phone to Ian about which kids he'll be allowed to bring in should Sterling leave.

Hard to build a vision of what you want at the club if key pieces leave every summer.
Got to feel for Brendan in that sense.

Failing to replace them adequately has become Liverpool kryptonite though.

The manager's role is pointless if his team building and philosophy is going to be compromised from up above and is forced to sell - it's horrific and, if true, it's de ja vu all over again like Benitez when he had his hands tied.

Brendan: 'Well who the hell do we get to replace Raheem?'

Ayre: 'Well, there's this bloke who plays for Swindon...'

I wouldn't be surprised if he throws out 30 mill on Delph, given his brains in transfer dealings.

You should know by now that Brendan doesn't decide transfer budgets. then again YOU wouldn't know that would you! Only supporters with an interest in facts, and not fickle plastic fans like you would know.

Came up terribly short again today when it mattered.

Has persisted with the three at the back for too long now. He persisted for far too long with a formation that nearly seen him lose his job earlier in the season and after changing it up is persisting with this one when he shouldn't be. It has been apparent since the Southampton game that teams have started to work us out.

His in game management was also shocking today as once again he froze in the headlights in a game that mattered.

Blackburn is a huge game but when looking at his record in the big games I just can't see us lifting the FA Cup.

Starting to doubt in his ability to take us to the next level.

      Hope I'm wrong.

Brendan has some talking to do before the Reading match to get the moral back up again. something is just not right with the lads at the minute, whether is tiredness or whatever, the players are second to the ball, and looking like they can't be bothered to put the effort in.

I'm not sure it's that, we just haven't played very well against two good sides. It was always going to be toug to come back from the horrific first three months of the season. The sad part is that we managed just that only to blow it the last couple of games.
