Barcelona got beat yesterday by newly promoted team so maybe Celtic will not be such a pushover.
Just like we got defeated by Burnely? That proves surely that it was a blip , ain't it?

Well the runaway champions in a one team league, beat a 10 men newly promoted side 5-1 at home. Is that an achievement?

      Barcelona on the other hand...

It's their rivals, it will deemed an achievement regardless of whether Rangers have only just gone back to that league or not. We would be no different to celebrating a win like that if it was against the Bitters or Mancs even if they had only just returned to the top flight so yes a convincing 5-1 win is an achievement.

His team haven't showed a character tonight. A humiliating loss, even though they played against Barcelona at Nou Camp. Suarez showed him no mercy.

Humiliation. Barcelona weren't even THAT good. The thing with Celtic when they beat Barcelona a few years back in the Champions League is that they chose not to play Barcelona at their own game. It's harsh to say that Lennon deployed anti football but that's what it was and saw them win that time round. You start playing Barcelona at their own game then there's only going to be one result. It's not like Barcelona had to work for it either.

Celtic like to laud players like Scott Brown and all that but he's just a big fish in a small pond in the SPL. In Europe he's shown up to be the lower level Championship/top League 1 player that he is. Celtic compete in a league that is probably at the level of League 1 and below (I could never see Inverness surviving in the English football league). It's all very well shouting about a 5-1 victory over a newly promoted team in Rangers but reality bites when they get on to the real stage. I like Celtic but their fans have small man syndrome. This will be a very long Champions League for them I suspect.

      Scottish football....F**k sake.

Just imagine if that was Rangers playing tonight. Still, it could have been worse - for us. Our record 8-0 Besiktas victory was under threat!

We used to go to Scotland to look for our classy players players with style and flare the list of wonderful Scottish players is endless going back more than 50 years now it looks like Celtic are head and shoulders above all other teams in Scotland but would struggle in the Championship

Makes you wonder why teams like Celtic are so paranoid about making the group stage or they want someone new in charge. I guess it's cash, but what use is it when they don't spend it anyway.

Celtic fans are probably still celebrating beating a newly promoted side 5-1 at home, to care about the scoreline in Barcelona, which was more or less expected given the gulf in class. Maybe it would be damage limitation if they could defend properly, but defending was never Brendan's strong point, was it?

Because that would of been telling the truth and there is always the second leg for Celtic to win 6-0.As  if.

Celtic and Brendan Rodgers, really put in their place, last night. Clearly they are not used to playing quality opposition.

With all due respect to Brendan Rodgers; I could manage Celic to SPL glory; especially after Rangers' downfall but to be fair to them...

If they [either of them] were allowed into the Premier League, with all the money that goes with it - big gates & international support - they'd be a much bigger force, to be reckoned with, than most teams already in it walt and all in a very short period of time.

On Rodgers: he's not exactly testing himself with Celtic but then again; his CV will look better and people tend to put a lot of stock in that.

A very tough group to qualify from,Barcelona,City,MonchenGladbach...

Best for Rodgers & Celtic would be to qualify for the Europa & give that a good shot.

With City and Barca home and away and Gladbach putting 7 past the young boys showing they are no mugs.
I reckon Celtic might be challenging the most goals conceded in the groups record.
