Not the start I wanted... Confidence is key and settling into the new swing of things FAST!

Would be great if we start well!

I'm quite happy with the fixtures as a whole. Every month has a nice mixture of 'tougher' and 'easier' games.

The scum away on a Monday night before we get a chance to gell under our new regime and approach and start laying everone else in the Premiership to waste. >:D

Here I go again, another ill founded unsuppoted optimism as a new season beckons.

It has ever been so. ;D

Prediction wrong but sentiment bang on.

Smack us with this before Brendan has a chance to imprint his system on the team.

Hope he hits the groung running and the FA have a suck in when we state our intent after laying all these 'top teams' to waste.

      Onwards and upwards!!!

I like the way this schedule starts. If we start out fast, the club and manager will gain tremendous confidence and support from the fans. If we mess up early, Rodgers has the legitimate excuse that these were the toughest fixtures possible to start a season, and expectations will be lower thereafter allowing us to "sneak up" on clubs in November/ December as the manager gets the players used to his system.

      I'm already excited, let's get playing!  :aaliverpoolwz0:

Huh? We're away to the Baggies.

I think we're set up for either a brilliant start or a bi*ch fest. Baptism of fire indeed.

It's a tough start to the season, there's no denying that. But if we do well in those early fixtures, it could be great in the long run. Or we find ourselves in a hole early in the season.

It's definitely a tough start but a good run can set us up for a good season. Getting excited already.

Also delighted to have a home game on Oct 6th, been living in Australia the last 4years and took a gamble and booked flights to Liverpool for that weekend hoping for a home game. Now I just need to sort tickets

      Very tough start that.

Even our opener - you could argue that nobody in the Premier League is going to know more about us than Steve Clarke will on day one.

You could argue that if the King were still in charge but Clarke is going to have as little idea as anyone else how a Brendan Rodgers team is going to set up and play. Especially one that could potentially include Cole, Aquilani and Sigurdsson.

No complaints about those first few fixtures. It's tough but our home form last year was so shocking that we shouldn't complain either way. It should offer a real incentive for the players to kick on and start the season with total focus.

Nearly but not quite.... WBA away

No-one got it right then  :o

Surely if someone said Stoke or Villa away, they'd have been closer;)

WBA won't be an easy game because Steve Clarke will know all our moves, and players inside out. I can imagine WBA to be very defensively strong, with great organisation and tactical positioning, but I still remain unconvinced that Steve Clarke's offensive coaching will be implemented well enough to cause many problems.

Very interesting start, with three tough home games in between visits to West Brom and Sunderland. I have not checked when we play our neighbours yet.

Somebody's already mentioned that Clark will only be aware of how Kenny set the team up, the good point is Clarke hasn't worked with Buck at Liverpool so is in the dark regarding Bucks tactics !

      Cheers ears. ;)

He may know our players but as for our moves he may be better watching DVDs of Swansea to get more of an idea of how our moves may play out.

I'm talking more along the lines of knowing each players weaknesses and strengths. And how to exploit each particular player, because Clarke will have spent days with the players on the training pitch.

Although, I do agree that our tactics will be a lot different to last seasons.

Not the start I would have picked tbh, was hoping we might (for once) start with a home game and then perhaps steer clear of a few of the bigger games until Rodgers ideas have had a bit more time to take shape. Still, you got to play everyone twice no matter what and it was the shi...te teams that cost us last season anyway so there is a real chance to make a bit of a statement in those first 3 home games against the big gunz.

I remember reading an article online where it explains the permutations and combinations of how a premier league fixture is made. It also goes on to explain the conditions they look for when it comes to deciding matches on the starting day, boxing day, derbies, new year, end of the year fixture etc. I am unable to find that article now. Can anyone help me find this?
