Agreed.
I became a Spain supporter just before Euro 2008 so yes, you can't say I'm a glory hunter
. I didn't become a Spain fan because they won the Euros or the World Cup but I became a fan because at that time, Rafa Benitez was manager and we had Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina and Alvaro Arbeloa in the side. Also, let's not forget Fernando Morientes and Luis Garcia before that and Albert Riera after that. So, there's always been a Spanish thing going.
Not only that, the way they play football is the way I like to play football.
Furthermore, I recently came back from Barcelona and I really loved the place. I had a great short break there and I would genuinely love to go back there someday. And as I've stated, the way they play football is very well related to Barcelona so I'm also a Barcelona fan (but I will always choose Liverpool over Barcelona).
I find both Liverpool and Barcelona (city and club) very similar in so many ways. The fans love the club. The people love the city. As Liverpudlians always say "We're not English, we are Scouse". Don't Barcelona people call themselves Catalans? Also their line 'Mes que un club' which means 'More than just a club' is so much like Liverpool.
I also don't understand why people say their style of football is boring. I know they make alot of short passes but I still think pass and move/tiki taka is the best way to play football. Afterall, you're meant to pass the ball to score goals to win games. Outpassing the ball not only tires your opponents but also frustrates them. While some people say the Chelsea 9-0-1 tactic has neutralised the tiki taka style, I actually disagree. Barcelona still dominated them but had no luck in hitting the woodwork three times, Messi missing chances he usually scores 9 out of 10 times and Chelsea having the luck scoring from their handful of shots on target twice.
Congratulations to Spain. If I had the chance to be another nationalilty, there's no guessing which I'd choose
Viva Espana!
