Mersey dash? Everton eye £5m swoop for Liverpool spare-part Adam

Liverpool will sell Charlie Adam for a knockdown £5million - and Everton boss "The Chosen One" is poised to make a sensational move for him.

Scotland midfielder Adam is being offered around behind the scenes because he will not be a starter under new Kop boss Brendan Rodgers, just a year after predecessor Kenny Dalglish bought him from Blackpool for £9m.

The fee is being flashed to other clubs and Moyes is keen to land the midfield maestro at the second attempt.

Moyes wanted his fellow Scot before he was priced out of his range and still rates the former Rangers schemer highly - although he is looking into the potential pitfalls of buying Adam.

It is very rare for a Liverpool player to be sold directly to Everton - Gary Ablett was the last, 20 years ago - and it would be a major issue for any deal.

Moyes has been sounding out confidantes about the potential public reaction.

However, the low asking price and Adam's undoubted ability make the move attractive to Moyes, who is looking to spend his windfall from the £15m sale of Jack Rodwell to Manchester City earlier this week.

Moyes could well have the inside track on the deal as his brother, Kenny, is Adam's agent.

The word is that the player would have no problem with a transfer to Goodison.

Adam hoped to be part of the Rodgers revolution, but growing talk of him being mentioned in possible swap deals and his absence from the starting XI in either leg of Liverpool's Europa League tie against FC Gomel make his exit look more likely.

Handy at times but in all honesty I just can't see a future for him at the club. Would take £5 million for him even from Everton. They could probably get much more out of him.

Not keen on selling anyone to them, but as we shouldn't be in direct competition with them it shouldn't matter. If Charlie isn't wanted by BR and wants to move then for 5million (pretty sure he was bought for 7 not 9 as stated in the article) then we'd be recouping most of the fee. I'd still value him as 6-7million

I'd sell him for 5, one of the more risk-free signings by Kenny and Comolli which means that we shouldnt take too much of a loss.

I don't really mind who we sell him to tbh he can go to Everton if he wants I'm sure not too many Liverpool fans will be sorry to see him go, even to the bitters. I'd rather we used him to get Dempsey.

Fair price and think it's strangely logical. Not sure they'd be happy with having one of our rejects as they'd probably see it but I think he'd do o.k. for them. He's so far down the pecking order that surely he sees it's fruitless staying.

Seriously though, i would tell Everton to suck my balls, £8 million an he can leave. Not a fan of Adam but i'd never let the bitters get him on the cheap. I'd sell him to most clubs for £5m, just not Everton, probably turn class there an become a gobs***e hero.

If we write up an article saying thay we're interested in re-signing him, maybe Spurs will come and snap him up, then him and chimp boy can rekindle their secret love affair.

I can see Adam recapturing his Blackpool form at a club where there is less pressure; a club like Everton.

Yeah but you need to subtract 4mil for his slowness and less than desired tackling ability.
