Apparently we wanted a loan to begin with, Liverpool wanted a sale. We agreed to buy him for just under 3 mil. But when talking to the lad himself he was preferable to a loan move. Which I understand he probably wants to wait and see if we win promotion (hopefully we do) before making the move permanently. I think he's exactly what we need we don't really have the committed player in front of the defence with the departure and retirement of Muamba and Nigel Reo-Coker. And that has been costing us so far.
