      Pet Name Suggestions!
      Aug 17, 2012 11:43:27 am
      Help!

We've bought a dog, will be picking it up tomorrow, but are struggling to think of a name.

Apparently this year pet names are meant to begin with the letter "H", which doesn't help. The wife unwaveringly wants to find a name beginning with "H", so any suggestions would be appreciated!

The dog is a male boxer, so no girly names, preferably something that sounds a bit tough! :D

      Cheers!

We'd thought of these three, but weren't sure, there is a difficulty of pronunciation between the French/English languages unfortunately, so we are trying to find some compromise.

      Makes it tricky!

We'd also thought Hendrix, Hunter, Halo, Hercule (likes Hercules, not like Poirot! :D)... but not found anything definitive yet.

Hobbs - Just seems to fit boxer dogs with their saggy cheeks.

Hannibal - You could call him Han for short.

      Homer  :D

      Or to go more French...

      Harbin - meaning glorious warrior

      Harvey
      - meaning Army warrior (doesn't sound very butch though)

      Holter - meaning hunter

      Hellpup
      Hellraiser
Hades (EDIT Shabs beat me to it)

Glad I could help.  :P Actually in seriousness, he's a boxer, so name him after a tough boxer with a letter  H. Who was tougher than Marvelous Marvin Hagler? Hagler would be unique and fit him perfectly.  :boxing:

I've always wanted to call pet ironic names, like if a dog has just the one colour on him, like all white, or all black, call him Spot.

      :D  I like that!

How about Herve (can't do the accent thingy) but that sounds French, and apparently means warrior.

      Hernandez :P

Hardrian- Famously built a wall ;)
Husk- from a resident evil game
      Hagarr- cartoon viking

Dont know if any of those names has a meaning, and dont understand the "Dog names are suposed to begin with "H" this year"!!
I'd just call him "H" to prove a point :P
Think of the money you'd save on engraving his collar :)

Henderson...... sounds a bit posh so will keep the wife happy, but you can shorten it to 'son when she's not there, so when you call him you can say "camon my son" in your best cockney accent.

Just don't let him watch Liverpool games or he may get depressed with everyone saying he's been bad.

      Henley or Hilts

Or swerve the H and go for Marvin as the common link between two H's. Hank Marvin Hagler ;)

Looks like we have a winner!

Not the tough-guy name we I was originally looking for, but the people we got the dog from had started calling him "Hanks", after Tom Hanks, I suppose, and since we're big Californication fans... Hank it is!

      Welcome to the family!
