      V

      23rd August - kick off 19:45. ITV4/ITV4HD

UEFA Europa League Play Off 1st Leg

Think it's about time we started looking forward to a new game.

I think he'll play a strong team in this, in the hope of getting a good win to boost the spirits. I wouldn't blame him either. But then obviously the risk of picking up injuries in a hectic league schedule could cause all sorts of problems.

In such an early stage of the season, the pressure really is back on.

Would love to Assaidi and Sterling start this game out wide. Two fast as F**k wide players with pace to burn.

I assume Agger can play this one?

Would like to see Shelvey, Assaidi and Sterling involved.  Also prefer to see Flanagan or Robinson at left back.  Stick Morgan on the bench as well and give him a run out.

Yes I agree, would like to see as strong a team as possible without risking injury.
A good 2/3 goal win would do us some good!

                                            Reina
                     Kelly        Skrtel       Agger       Enrique/Jonno/Robinson
                                        Lucas/Spearing
                                    Henderson   Allen
                        Assaidi                            Suarez
                                           Borini

Jones. Jonno/Robinson. Coates. Adam. Shelvey. Sterling. Carroll.

Hopefully something like 3-0 (Suarez, Borini, Carroll)

It's only the start of the season, resting players isn't necessary now, winning games is.

Go for the jugular here. Goals, goals and more goals. Get the lads spirits up before the City game.

Agger has to be a starter for me. He can't play in the league so get some use out of him here, put the faith in him and let him pay us back. Same goes for Skrtel, he had a poor game, we know he's better than that so come on and show us.

Johnson and Robinson at full back. No offence to Kelly, I'm a big fan of his, but Johnson is our best Right Back, and with Enrique out put a left back in for a left back. Robinson is a quality young player, let him do his job!

Mid field is the issue now... Lucas Allen and Gerrard as of right now are going to be our strongest mid field (I'm on about who we have now not any player we might get.). With everyone fit most of us would say that's our strongest 3 in the middle. They need to develop their understanding. Allen needs to get to know his team mates but likewise they need to understand the way he plays. And the best way to get that understanding is by playing together. So for me they start. If needs must, Shelvey and Henderson are there but the longer the 3 lads can play together the better.

The front 3 for me are Suarez, Borini and Assaidi. I'm all for giving players a chance but Downing was a coward against West Brom, I'll take someone trying their heart out and not playing well over this hiding sh*te that Downing does. Give Assaidi the chance and let Downing know he's not walking into the team and he can cop on to himself! As well as that, it will be a lot better and a lot easier for Assaidi to make his debut against Hearts than Man City, it will be less pressure on him. Let him do his stuff and see what he's got.

For me Borini has to start down the middle. Suarez will cause hell from anywhere on the pitch, and if he's creating the same chances he was against West Brom at least we'll have Borini in a position to stick them in the net if Luis doesn't. Case and point his goal against Gomel.

Reina between the posts for me as well.

On the bench; Jones, Carragher, Kelly, Henderson, Shelvey, Sterling, Carroll

Come on lads, heads up and show what you're made of.

We are Liverpool Football Club and we are going to F***ing WIN!

Give Suarez a break ahead of City which has got even more important now we fu**ed up against West Brom. Lucas looked tired at times on Saturday so same for him.

Confident of a clean sheet and a win.

Ideal back four for me would be:

      Johnson, Kelly, Agger, Robinson

As we need to see Kelly at centre back in this system as he doesn't fit it at right back. He be a good right back in a Hodgson type 4-4-2. But i think we need to get a result and not underestimate Hearts so:

      Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Robinson
      Stevie-G

Dont think he is as it's a qualifing game he played in, but could be wrong here.

Not too confident, and I guess most of the lads wont be! But a great chance to bounce back and get a few goals. Lucas needs gametime - he is not match fit yet so this is essential. Suarez to start and a goal would do his confidence no harm - and lets blood some youngsters. Downing for me offers nothing, so give Sterling a run out...

Need to win - and need to get a few goals - should be a good game!

At least we have this one to work on some of the mistakes from West Brom before playing City. I don't want to see Borini on the wing again. He just doesn't have the skill set for it.

Gotta hope Heerenveen get knocked out by Molde if we can have him play at all in the competition for us.

A bit unfair considering he only played 45 minutes in the game.

No, you're misinterpreting that rule. It doesn't apply to qualifying rounds and play offs. 18.19 specifically mentions players being fielded in the group stages, not before that.

My bad, that rule is actually old. We can play Assaidi from the Group Stages regardless as he only featured in the 3rd Qualifying Round. Got it from Twitter, so you know it will be misinformed.

      Back in the game!

I thought they said in the commentary that the rule didn't apply until the group stages.
