High altitude in Bolivia.  They've got a great home record.  Put six past Argentina not that long ago.

Portugal 1-1 Northern Ireland.  Full time.  Bang goes quite a few accumulators, including mine.  It was like watching Liverpool last season, the Portuguese done everything in that second half but score the winner.

Good result for Ireland tonight in our own game, most importantly getting a few goals what will help reduce our negative goal difference.

US started horribly allowing a goal from Guatemala but Dempsey set up one and scored two. I can see why FSG didn't want to pay a couple extra million for him.

Watching Dempsey's movement off the ball and with the ball makes me wish even more that he was playing for us.

I remember people saying he wasn't worth 10m. Most wanted to pay 5m. Hindsight is 20/20 but I think 10m would have been fine if he was a Red right now. I sure would have been ok with it.

In agreeance with both of you. I thought around 7.5m was a fair fee for everyone involved. Dempsey has been very good for the US tonight, but don't forget Guatemala's back line is pretty gash. Still, his movement has been excellent.

Germany losing their 4 goal lead and Spain conceding that injury time equaliser stopped me getting £70 from £1!!  >:(

Delighted for Northern Ireland. May not have a fantastic pool of players but it shows you what hard work, determination and a bit of luck can do for you.

He strikes me as a player who is affected greatly by confidence. When confident, things go well for him but when things start to go against him, he kind of disappears. Doing very well with Aberdeen and it is showing. Great wee goal.

Exactly him but when things are going well he can be very affective.

Alexander Kačaniklić receiving a lot of plaudits for Sweden's comeback against the Germans.  Hodgson in all his wisdom gave Alex, Dalle Valle and £4m for Konchesky.   The club paid more to get rid of Konchesky then what we paid for the current Swedish international to sign for us in the first place.

That was nearly as bad as letting Ince go last year as a sweetener for Adam to arrive

Ince was out of contract, looking for a lot of money and first team guarantees though.   He signed for Blackpool on a compo deal.  He was going anyway.  So nowhere near as bad tbh.  There's nothing to even say it was related to the Adam deal since him and his father where the ones actively looking for another club at that point.
