I know it's very negative but I would take a draw here. A draw or a win would be a good result here. As others have said, draw away, win at home. I think Yesil will play, but as a sub. Suso will make the bench but that's about it I'd say. He has to start being on the bench more before starting I would imagine.

      I reckon the team will be;

                           Reina
      Kelly     Carra       Coates     Robinson
                  Allen         Sahin
      Pacheco       Shelvey          Downing
                         Borini

It's a terrible thing to say but my hope for Downing is all but gone and I wouldn't even play him in games which will be largely made of reserve squads.

      2-0 win for Liverpool.

Reina, Suaraz and Gerrard were left behind. So we are going to see a lot of youngsters and we hope that with their hunger to play, we will win.

I think: Jones, Wisdom, Carragher, Skrtel, Robinson; Suso, Henderson, Sahin; Assaidi, Yesil, Downing.

It would be good to see Wisdom but I think Coates has to play in this game and any other that Agger and/or Skrtel sit out.

He has to get games under his belt so he is ready to step in in a regular basis should any of the other two get injured.

Getting quite excited for this one. Guessing/hoping for something like this and I see this XI as reasonably competitive too. Young full backs to shine again (not sure what's up with Enrique?)

Gulacsi in goals - has he made a senior start? perfect time to do so.

Liverpool FC to leave senior stars at home for Europa League
      By James PearceSep

BRENDAN RODGERS will leave a host of senior stars behind when Liverpool FC travel to Switzerland today for tomorrow night’s Europa League Group A clash with Young Boys.

Skipper Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Glen Johnson, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger, Joe Allen and Martin Kelly will all be rested ahead of Sunday’s Premier League showdown with Manchester United at Anfield.

Pepe Reina, who is only one game short of equalling Ray Clemence’s club record of 80 appearances by a Liverpool goalkeeper in Europe, will also remain at Melwood.

Brad Jones is set to start in goal against Young Boys with Peter Gulacsi providing cover on the bench.

Rodgers will take a youthful squad to Switzerland including Samed Yesil, Suso, Andre Wisdom, Conor Coady, Adam Morgan, Jon Flanagan, Jack Robinson and Dani Pacheco.

The manager wants to avoid a repeat of what happened after the play-off round second leg with Hearts last month.

He fielded a strong line-up against the Scots at Anfield but the Reds paid the price for their exertions three days later when they were soundly beaten by Arsenal.

With Rodgers desperate to ensure Liverpool are firing on all cylinders for the visit of United, he has taken the decision to make wholesale changes for their Group A opener.

Oussama Assaidi will make his Liverpool debut a month after he was snapped up from Heerenveen for £3million.

The Morocco international, who has overcome a minor knock, wasn’t eligible to face Hearts having appeared for the Dutch club in the third qualifying round.

However, Assaidi is now free to play for the Reds in Europe and is likely to start on the left wing.

Despite the emphasis on youth, there will still be plenty of experience in the team which faces Young Boys at the Stade de Suisse.

Nuri Sahin is expected to start his second game for the Reds following his loan move from Real Madrid.

The Turkey international midfielder, who was an unused substitute at Sunderland last weekend, needs to build up his match fitness and will be hoping to stake a claim for Sunday’s game against United.

Jamie Carragher, who will skipper the Reds, is set to partner Sebastian Coates at the back with Jose Enrique, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing also involved.

Raheem Sterling will travel to Switzerland but may only play a cameo role ahead of Sunday’s game with United.

I'm so gutted I'm going to miss a lot if not all of this match.  Got a stupid baby shower to go to, planning on raising a couple of glasses of cheers to the mum to be and ducking out early doors.  Hopefully I'll get home for the second half!

Sounds like it will be mainly a young line up.  Hope Pacheco gets a look in, I thought he played well in the U21's game against chelski the other day.

Wonder whether we will see Suso or Assaidi tomorrow night?

It is a daft k.o. time but with the hour difference here in Europe it doesn't clash with the wifes 'soaps' so I'm happy !
EDIT; it does clash so I'm not happy! she'll have to miss the soaps and have the 'face on' !

I know it's always good to give the youngsters a chance but to be honest I don't in the slightest bit agree with resting the so called "key players". We need our side to have a consistency, if we put in a great performance against Young Boys we are still going to be playing a totally different starting 11 to what we would have in the Europa League so them players wont be feeling the confidence after having a great game, they will still be in the rut of yet to get a win! Play the strongest line up as often as you can and for the amount of money they get paid I don't expect to be hearing that players need to be rested for a certain game. Fair enough resting the odd 1 or 2 players, especially ones who have struggled with fitness or injury lately, i.e Gerrard but not virtually the whole team. Especially for players like Morgan who yes is looking like a good prospect but there is absolutely no way he is ready to be starting a game, any game be it in the Europa, Carling Cup or the Premiership.

Get the same team playing as often as possible, get the team blended and consistent and make an example out of teams like these.
