I would start with Shelvey at the front of the 3. He is a much more important player than Gerrard in this season and has performed many times better than him so far this season. He is performing better in so many aspects, passing, energy, shooting, everything you want from an attacking midfielder.

But the main point for putting him in there would be his energy. United are going to play through Scholes. It amazes me how much time and space he gets on the ball in deep positions allowing him to make passes and dictate the play. I know it's easier said than done but closing him down is key and I believe that Shelvey has the discipline and energy to do this better than anyone else in the squad in that position.

Agree with this. Shelvey is the most improved player in the squad over the last season or so IMO and is a natural choice to mark Scholes who cannot be allowed to dictate the game.

Cant help but feel well batter this lot, but might not have the firepower to capitalise!

Nice to see the optimism among a number of members here even though we are in a hope less situation to face the team at home who finished with the same points as the title winners last season. Still hoping for a good result. Draw would be tremendous achievemnt to be honest.

One of my least favourite victories over the Mancs. March 2011 and that 3-1 win on the weekend of Kenny's birthday is a perfect example though. That was one of the most hunger driven performances I have seen from Liverpool. We were fantastic and didn't give them an inch that day.

Just logged on and thought the same Brian.

I'm pretty sure what Brendan is going to go for but I've seen a few on here have been mentioning Jordan starting and possibly Jonjo not and I just can't see it happening.

I'm not saying Henderson didn't have a very good game on Thursday or he doesn't deserve a chance but for me Shelvey is a starter and his performance the other night showed how much he is growing into a first team player.

I would have no problem with Jordan playing but it would be alongside Allen with Jonjo just in front.

The question then would be where do we play the Captain?

As I said I don't see it happening, more like Stevie, Allen, Jonjo, but if Henderson was to push into the side I don't think it warrants Shelvey missing out.

Buzzing for this game, i know for a fact tomorrow ill be up early because of my excitement for the game.

I hope the players feel the same and put in a performance that shows, Suarez, Borini and Sterling as a front 3 hassling the scums defense 24-7, we need to hunt down every pass and track every run there players make and take our chances.

Whoever starts in midfield tomorrow needs to put in a 110% take no prisoners, Allen and Gerrard need to boss the midfield with Shelvey going out on attack needs to be brave and clinical in his choices, if his going to shoot it needs to be one of his great shots not his lazy across the floor shots.

Back four needs to be solid, Skrtel and Agger need to keep it simple without playing to many sideways passes and the left and right backs need to time they're attacking runs well or we will get punished. Hope Kelly and Johnson play Enrique seems too much of a liability at the minute to be honest. Hopefully Reina will be confident in himself and be big and brave when making saves and coming for the ball.

Come on you Reds! Hopefully this will be the start our season needs. IBWT YNWA.

Have a strange feeling about this game. Don't think it has quite sunk in yet that it is tomorrow. I am sure that when I will wake up it will be a different matter.

Either way, this is the big game for me. Others may say Everton is their big game but for me it is the Mancs. I don't like losing at the best of times but especially not against the Mancs. Just hope we get the win, not even bothered by the performance.

Early start for this game tomorrow, came back early from my holidays to attend this match.

Think it will be a very tight one and a very emotional day all round, 1-0 to us I reckon.

Please please please lets beat them tomorrow. I am that nervous I may actually have to skip watching it as it probably damages my health.

I shall be watching this with a load of United fans tomorrow so i'm hoping for an encouraging performance!

I can see this being the starting line-up for tomorrow even though something is making me want Downing to start instead of Borini.

I'm too excited to sleep....

We need a really tight defence to hold back RVP and Kagawa, defend like F**k and catch them on the break , if Sterlings playing his speed and trickery will get us a goal . I can see Vidic taking him down in or near the box , he's a liability for them when they play us and i can see a penalty which Gerrard will convert. Suarez to score with help from Sterling . 2-1 .
