First off, I'm delighted by the result. It's been far too long since things went our way in a game. We took our chances, the deflections fell our way and they were the side missing a few sitters. The rub of the green as they say.
Still, I'm very concerned by how we played defensively. I'm not just chatting about Skrtel and Pepe's errors either. We gifted a poor team far too many chances. On another day that game could have finished any score at all. I hope and I'm sure he's not, that Rodgers won't be happy with that performance.
I think Lucas is a massive miss. Although all three centre mids who started today are class players, none really bring to the table what Lucas does. Too many times we're watching our full back pushed up and no one covering him. That's suicidal.
Wee moan over now, it's great to get our first win, a long over due one. If we can take six points from our next two games, something we really should be doing, then the table will be longer a lot better. I know some people are happy to write off this season, whilst Rodgers implements his style, but I'm not. We need to be up there, close to the top four and at least finishing in a European spot again. Stay close until January, add another real quality forward and I'm sure we can be watching Tuesday/Wednesday night europeqn football again.
