      Not good facts... :sadlook:
The sad thing is that THIS is probably one of the biggest reasons why the atmosphere at Anfield has worsened :-(

If you look at all the London clubs the season tickets are daylight robbery.

From the ages of 4-16 I had a Warrington Wolves season ticket (that got you 12 games a season and the option of 12 away games for half price) for 52£.

Football (especially premier league football) has got out of hand.

Just reading a comment on BBC Sport:
Hinckley Utd - Bottom of the Conference North

Terraced season ticket price = £179:00

      Borrusia Dortmund

Terraced season ticket prices = €187:00 or roughly £150:00

      and:

I live in Germany and have a season ticket for this season for the Bundesliga champions and cup winners Borussia Dortmund including the three qualifiying home matches for the Champions League ( Man City, Real Madrid and Ajax Amsterdam) and free public transport on match days, all for a total cost of 231€. That is the equivalent of 187 pounds 50. Shame on British football clubs!

Sky and their premier league model is sh*te.

You can moan all you like the truth of the matter is that prices are driven by customer demand, we as a society are to blame for the prices of successful teams, not the teams themselves.

Yes it's greed on their behalf but market forces always dictate prices. While I agree a fan is a bit of a captive audience driven more by loyalty to the team than the brand and in a way they're exploiting that advantage but at the same time we do always have a choice.

Also comparing London club prices in a linear fashion is simply wrong, everything is inflated in London to the point it is pretty much it's own independent island these days. Just ask any of the poor sods that try to avoid London prices but work there and have to commute ridiculous hours and times each day.

In many ways British clubs are a thing to be thankful for in this economic climate because they do generate massive amounts of income and a large amount of that will be exported goods sale in various forms. So while I do agree prices are harsh we're not without blame and suggesting they should be ashamed at what they do, I'd look more at utility companies and oil giants to point shame at, there's less of a choice when you want to heat your house or cook your food.

The facts are that people still buy the tickets and go to games whatever the price, so the clubs aren't going to turn around and say we're going to drop prices. As for boycotts, all that will happen is that someone else will take their place.

Liverpool should be thoroughly ashamed that they have the second most expensive 'cheap' tickets in the Premier League.  Behind only Chelsea.

Considering the area the ground is in this a smack in the face to all those local residents.  Liverpool should set aside a number of tickets - maybe 500-1000 at a more reasonable value to those in the L4 area who have to put up with the noise and disruption that football brings.

1000 tickets at £20 would cost the club a mere £20k a game.  Absolutely nothing to them.

Supply and demand works in other countries as well. No explanation why a season ticket for the German champions is so cheap then?

Plenty of reasons, one of them being that the Bundesliga is a financially healthy league, while the EPL isn't as much.

The Bundesliga actually has the lowest ticket prices out of all major leagues. Probably also why they have the highest attendance out of all leagues.

You answered your own question Neil, supply and demand or more accurately market forces. Good article in the Guardian explaining all the factors that seem to defend the German strategy but actually highlight some of the reasons behind the difference too.

      http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/apr/11/bundesliga-premier-league

Perhaps you personally are not prepared to pay the price that is being offered but it's very much like the rolling stone 50th concert, £1140 I think it is for certain tickets and the vast majority of those fans will feel they've got their money's worth as do the vast majority of fans paying the price for tickets for any event. Yes you may moan, you may agree with your friend who says it's unfair on the locals etc etc, but it's you that just bought the ticket that is perpetuating the problem and until we as a society choose not to pay the price then we really can't moan.

The point JD raises is an interesting one and I personally agree with him that the club have a morale obligation to appreciate it's heritage and keep a certain number favourably priced seats available for the locals, however this could create more problems than it solves. So when it comes to making such a decision I'm sure it's easier just to say why should we create a problem for ourselves while costing ourselves money too, not that it's the right choice, just the easy choice.

Good post mate, I do think you have got the import export bit wrong though. English clubs have singlehandedly kept the European economies going for years with the huge sums we have paid for their players.

It has not been the banks collapses etc that has caused the financial melt down in Europe ..... its the threat of FFP and the thought that English clubs won't be buying as many foreign players. :D

Truth is u cant eat ur cake and have it

Lets be very objective here, I'm a foreigner and i make it a point of duty to watch at least 1 Live match every season. It cost me the price of a season's ticket if i include logistics and accommodation. I bet there are many of me worldwide who do the same and truth is we are all jostling for a fixed amount of tickets, so the demand is always more than supply.

U cannot want the best brand in the world, that is the Premier League and expect to have fans from just Liverpool at the stadium, it wouldnt work. I watch all LFC matches live on TV and buy the merchandise just like any local, i even probably promote the brand in my part of the world than most of you local lads and i dont consider myself less of a fan than u guys. The point i'm trying to make is even though Dortmond's matches are probably better in quality i wouldnt travel to Germany to see a live match when i can see it on TV, but I would travel miles to see LFC play a 3 division side in the Cup as long as I can see my beloved players.

My point is even if the Locals boycott there are still fans worldwide willing to pay a premium to see the greatest club in England LIVE, though not saying a boycott wouldnt hurt the club. So U cant want an international brand and expect local prices. It wouldnt work.
