Got a lot of respect for Del Piero in general, I'm sure for the newspapers in this country they are running this for their own reasons but Del Piero cannot be criticised.

It is a shame, maybe if Del Piero had felt differently his move here would have helped relations improve even more.

I agree with you all, and kind of respect him more than this as it might be something we'd expect from one of our own in different circumstances.

Im actually suprised he snubbed the move to be honest, surely it would have helped reaching out to each other as Del Piero acting as ambassador for both clubs?.

I didn't read it like that. I thought it was more an emotional thing for him, especially as he mentioned the hard work done by both clubs in building bridges.

The time elapsed since the actual event could indicate some mischief afoot on behalf of the media, if  the statement when taken in the wrong context can cause a stir now, how much of a furore would it have caused in the aftermath of the tragedy?
That fact for me rules out the possibility of the man meaning anything derogatory in his historical remarks .

TBH watching him, i don't think him coming here would be a good thing. Looks like he put on some weight and is very slow.

Still respect him though of course. Would hit some Juve fans hard if he came here regardless of his reasons.

I respect the decision but I think if he's so passionate about it, he may have been able to mend more bridges by coming to Liverpool.
