January transfer or loan targets / needs.

Not sure if its ok to start this thread but maybe its about time with the holes in our squad being painfully obvious.

Clearly we need a striker or two....purchased or loaned.

We are fine at the back and in midfield and the youngsters that have come in deserve to continue to be given opportunities as they haven't let the club down and have actually shown they are worthy of being considered.

But it is up front, be it strikers or wide attackers that we are lacking.

I would also love to see Cole and Downing to be told that they have till January to show something, anything that states that they could be of any use to us rather than being financial drains and hugely unreliable.

Just hope BR gets some backing.

Not expecting anyone major but a couple of players to just plug the holes and improve the squad would be great given that it is the January window that we are fast approaching and top players would be highly unlikely to be available then.

Darren Bent or Gary Hooper    It looks like Wilfred Bony is ready to leave Vitesse Arnhem and has said english clubs are interested, he would be a good signing as long we don't play daddy F***ing cool everytime he scores.

I play football on Sundays with Adam Ba. He is Demba Ba's cousin. He reckons Demba is on his way to Liverpool or Chelsea in the winter. He said Chelsea very nearly bought him last window but decided against it for whatever reason.

I don't think with such tight purse strings you can afford to take too many gambles.

That being the case I would stray away from the "up and coming" British talent nothing against Rhodes but I would not want him leading any lines here. Was Connor Wickham not the next Torres and Sunderland payed good money for him I know he suffered a knee injury last year but I never saw in his game how anyone can pay 10m for him.

I find the whole fascination with Jordan Rhodes pretty bizarre to be honest. He's only just proving himself in the Championship.

Said it last January and I'm saying it again. Gary Hooper is a better all-round player than Jelavic and look how he has done. If we can get Hooper for a reasonable deal I'd be happy, and hopefully get another wideman in too.

Hooper's movement and touch is good enough for the Premier League and he is genuinely one of the most clinical finishers going at the moment.

sturridge, ba can only help us. would love to see either here. those rumors about ba's 7m/10m buyout clause keep coming up with us willing to match his 80k wage demands that newcastle wont meet, that is the amount I believe carroll is/was on. i suspect sturridge will want the same wages though people seem to think he has a high opinion of himself but more importantly is already on high wages so wouldn't want to go down.. or perhaps he would considering the amount of game time he is getting.

if we get someone on these kind of wages in (which i hope we do despite my love for carroll) then that is surely the end of big andy's days here.. he will keep the hammers up himself

I'd like us to sign two players: a winger and a striker.

Walcott and Huntelaar or Ba, We need a real winger with pace and a good crossing and who can score 15+goals/season and a real poacher. I'd like us to get rid of Cole and Downing too unless Cole starts to have an impact

Turan should have been here years ago. Rafa wanted him some time back but it never ensued.

Turan is a good player but he is a gamble IMO, we need a player with much  more consistency(injuries included) and who can score. I would not be against his signing but there are other players which will bring more efficiency to the team. To make mypoint clear, I'd like another Assaidi but with much more confirmed talent.
