I was sick of X factor the very first year to be honest and this year's effort is dreadful.

Loving He Ain't Heavy and really hope it makes it to the top spot. Probably the only time I've taken a but of interest in the singles chart for a long time.

      Me too.

It's a song I've always liked and this version is fantastic.

Hillsborough charity single takes critical lead in Christmas Number 1 race

Hillsborough charity single He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother has taken a critical lead over James Arthur’s Impossible in what has become the tightest battle for the Official Christmas Number 1 EVER!

The Official Charts Company can confirm that The Justice Collective’s Hillsborough charity single, He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, has taken a marginal lead over James Arthur's Impossible today, based on the first three days of sales data.

Yesterday, Impossible was just over 3,000 sales ahead of He Ain't Heavy… (based on sales to midnight on Monday), but this morning the positions have flipped, with The Justice Collective’s track taking a 3,400 sales lead (based on sales up until midnight last night). He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother has sold over 109,700 copies so far this week, vs Impossible’ s sales of 106,300.

Official Charts Company Managing Director Martin Talbot says:

"This really is the closest Number 1 battle we can remember - even closer than the legendary 2009 battle between Rage Against The Machine and Joe McElderry. The poll concludes at midnight on Saturday night (December 22), so there is a long way to go yet - but this one looks like going down to the wire."

In 2009, Rage Against The Machine's Killing In The Name and Joe McElderry's The Climb mounted the most exciting battle for Christmas Number 1 yet seen. But the two records were never closer than 8,000 sales from each other, with RATM extending their final lead to almost 52,000 by the end of the week - 503,000 to 451,000.

The Official Christmas Number 1 will be revealed on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart Show with Reggie Yates and on www.officialcharts.com this Sunday (December 23). Tune into Radio 1 at 4pm today for the Official Chart Update with Greg James who will be counting down the Official Singles Chart Top 40 as it stands at the half way point of this exciting Christmas Number 1 week.

You can also purchase the track by texting the word 'Justice' to 80010 from your mobile phone in the UK (£1 + standard network rate). From the Republic of Ireland, text 'Justice' to 53600 if you would like to order a copy (€1.50 + standard network rate). Please note that due to the very high demand, texts to download may suffer a delay of a few hours.

      Just downloaded it.
If you're Irish the option is there.

Thanks for posting this. I was trying to pick out who sang what part.

Does anyone know if any of The Hollies were involved in this?

2 of them were but don't know which ones mate.  If you can get lfctv they've been running a documentary this week called "the road is long" which is about the making of the single.  Worth a watch if you can get it.

Cameron announced in the Commons yesterday that any VAT on the single would be waived adding that the measure should please a lot of people on Merseyside.
Would have pleased everyone on Merseyside if they hadn't had to wait 23 years for justice thanks to the establishment.
