Anzhi v Liverpool Thursday 8th November 17.00 KO
      Nov 06, 2012 01:52:30 pm
      V

Can't believe nobody has started this already so if somebody can do the nice frilly bits for me, let's get this going  ;D

Seems like Stevie and Luis are staying at home for this one according to most reports.

      I'll go with

      Reina (if fit) Jones

      Wisdom
      Skrtel
      Agger
      Johnson (if fit) Enrique

      Allen
      Sahin
      Shelvey

      Assaidi
      Morgan
      Downing

Subs: Jones/Gulacsi, Carra, Coates, Cole, Henderson, Coady, Pacheco.

Allen shouldn't be anywhere near this one either if you ask me.

Looks a bit off the pace recently and plenty of player to play CM away in Russia.

Yeah I did consider putting Coady in there but then thought without Stevie it might leave us a bit exposed in the middle.  Maybe henderson could get a shout but not sure if he's upto the defensive duties either.

I'd be quite happy with Henderson in there debs and feel Joe just needs a wee break and this is the perfect opportunity.

I think he's quite a bit better than many give him credit for, but I also think he needs very clear instructions because it looks to me like his concentration isn't the best.
Give him a simple job to do, and I think he can do it well as long as he keeps his focus.

Maybe Henderson and Coady with Shelvey ahead of them would give us extra cover, with Sahin on the bench.

True mate, he's done well when he's filled in at RB and CM is supposed to be his natural position.  Have Coady sitting with Jordan just in front, could work.

I hope we can progress in this tournament because we need the European football next season.

1-0 Would do me with no injury to our lads.

      No Sahin?

It's starting to annoy me that he still doesn't look fit. He's a yard off the pace, and doesn't look to be moving as freely as he should, but maybe I'm seeing it wrong?

With Henderson, it's odd that he really makes the team tick for England u-21's and looks a great player, but as soon as he pulls on our shirt he just looks confused.

He has got a lot of time to get fit na? more accurately saying one season to get fully fit and go back to madrid.

No he doesn't look right to me either yet.  Whether that's adjusting to the speed of the EPL or being played out of position I'm not sure.

I guess a lot depends on who Brendan has in mind for the Chelski game.

At the very least Robinson, Coady and Morgan should be in the squad.
      I'd start Robinson and Morgan.

Think we need more in defence Racer to keep a check on E'to.  Agree Morgan should get game time though.

We could always put Skrtel in there. Seems to be able to play 30 - 40 games a season most years.

If he plays as deep as he did last game, Morgan or Yesil will be picking him up ;D

True that.  Can't remember the last time he had an injury.  Hope I haven't jinxed him now.

Definitely rest Joe Allen for this game.

Agree with Racer's team, with Skrtel possibly coming in for Carra.

Glen Johnson on the bench if he's back from injury.

I honestly think we should play 5-3-2 for this and set-up for the draw. We all know we probably wont carry enough threat to take the game to them at their place with a weakened team. Playing for the draw is sacrilege to some, LFC should play to win every game, yes I agree but circumstances dictate otherwise very occasionally and a draw here would be a great result, especially if we manage to rest a few key players.

I'd take a draw, no problem.

Me too but I'm not sure we are experienced enough to hold out for a draw.

Agreed. With the players we have available for this game because our priorities are rightly the league, it's going to be a tough match.
