Looking forward to being at Anfield yet again and wouldnt it be nice to score first and early, get another one just before half time, then another goal early in the second half as Wigan start to crumble and we score a 4th midway into the second half.......well I can dream  ;)

      Come on you Redmen  :scarf:

To those of you who are going, see you in the Sandon for a bevvy before the game  :ernaehrung004:

We need to kick on and start getting a few 3 points in the bag from today, lets start with a tempo that befits playing one of the 'big boys', all too often in last few years I believe it's why we've done reasonably well against the top teams yet drawn or even lost against the lesser teams.

This calendar year Wigan have scored in 12 of 14 EPL away games, and I can see them doing so again hoping we take it 2-1 or 3-1.

I don't agree with a few on here who are calling for Sterling to be rested, imo Wigan's defence struggle against real pace and Sterling as we know has this in abundance.

Put the ball in the air and Caldwell will dominate but start turning him and have players running from deep past the forward line an Wigan won't be able to cope.

Martinez will try beating Rodgers at his own game by dominating the passing in midfield so for the same reason although his form has dipped I'd still stick with Allen and possible leave it till Lucas is back to give Allen a game or 2 off.

                                Reina
                                (if fit)
      Johnson       Skrtel      Agger      Enrique
                        (if fit)       (if fit)
                               Allen

                   Gerrard          Suso

      Assaidi                                     Sterling
                             Suarez

Jones in for Reina if still not right
Carra replacement if either cb's out.

With Shelveys niggle and drop in form I'd have him on bench, would also drop Wisdom nothing against the lad love way his took on the mantle but if the Enrique that played at the Bridge is hitting form would like this back 4 given an extended run.

How many times have I thought that we should easily win this one in the last few years - but we should.  We seem to have become more resilient in the last few weeks even though we have only drawn games, we have not been holding on by the end, but the team more likely to snatch it.  Home form must improve from now on in, if we want to be in any kind of position to challenge for something this year.  Too many draws in games we should have won have killed us over the last few seasons.

As always though, I will punt for a healthy win.

Teamwise, as well as he has done, Wisdom may have to step down today, as Enrique looked like he had a point to prove last week and has to play if available.  Would like to see some variation in the front 2/3/4 today.

Well the boss has always said that we'd see the best from young Joe when he was moved forward in the three (when Lucas came back) so why not give it a try now without the wait? Depending on fitness, of course, I'd give Agger a rattle in the 'holding role:

                                          Reina

               Johnson       Skrtel      Coates      Enrique

                                        Agger
                             Allen              Suso

                Gerrard            Suarez         Sterling

Dani is accomplished enough with the ball at his feet and I would expect that we'd be playing and passing the ball higher up the pitch. In my opinion this set up could, not only, get the best from Allen but also Suso and Gerrard. We could very easily slip into a back three if needed but, in a side crying out for "penetration", the guile of Allen and Suso feeding Gerrard et al, with two 'full-backs' pushing on... goals galore.  ;D

Sure I read somewhere that he gave possesion away more than any other Liverpool player last week but made the most completed passes also.

Either way, the lads having a pop and looks a lot more like the player he was last year which is welcome news. Seems to have a good little understanding with Luis aswell. Enrique and Johnno at the top of their game at LB and RB can make a hell of a difference to our play.

Don't expect to see too much different today in shape but I imagine Stevie will go back to DM with Allen to provide decent cover when the full backs have bombed on.

I'd give Assaidi a dabble but imagine he'll go with Suso.

      I'd go:

                                            Reina

                              Skrtel                   Agger

               Johnson                                          Enrique
                                Gerrard
                                                        Allen

                                             Sahin

                    Sterling                                       Suso

Heard Assaidi was starting and that Skrtel was back.

If Agger is out then I hope we don't try that 3 centre backs bollocks that we attempted last week.

Really need a win today against Wigan, desperately need to start climbing up the table. So often make hard work in games like these especially at home. I will still go for a 2 1 win for us over Wigan.

Dont want to see a 3 52 today...a back four of glen skrtel agger jose
Lets give shelvey a go as sahin still looking too slow for me...allen and gerrard then a front 3 of suarez sterling and suso...think this is a good game for suso.
His style of play will really suit this game.

We don't have a good history against wigan as we seem to be very slow out the gates. They play the ball very fast, keep it on the ground and counter a hell of lot better than us.
Lets hope BR has there number today.

Must win, simple as. Enough with the 'hardest start' excuses, we really need to start converting draws into wins now.

If Suso starts, I hope it's in a central position where he impressed against Chelsea and Anzhi.
