Nice 3rd goal by Jo, kissed the badge so I guess he'll be playing for Russia in the World Cup then.

ANyone noticed how the whole stadium booed at the Brazilian President? Blatter gpt angry, caught the mic and said "where is the Fair Play?". Dont understand why they felt the need to do that in the opening ceremony. Care to draw light on this Diego, am I missing something ? I tought Dilma was well loved by the people.

As for the match, Brazil played in first gear (at least I hope so, because if thats the only gear they have they are in trouble), and cruised to a win. LOved the first goal, fantastic strike. Italy will be the test for Brazil, then we can see what this team is made of. Most of them are young and this squad is probably the one that will play on 2014, with maybe minor adjustments.

Expect a Spain Brazil final (if Brazil dont face Uruguay in the semis ;)  ) To be honest I dont know where Uruguay is right now. IF the team that we can be shows up, we could surprise everyone. If the team that has been playing the qualies plays...disaster. Anyway, Uruguay always does better in this type of situations (we seem to thrive when there is no tomorrow) but I really dont know what to expect.

      My team for tomorrow
                                          Muslera
           Pereira         Godin               Lugano                 Caceres

                       Arevalo Rios                      Diego Perez
      Gaston Ramirez                                                     Cristian Rodriguez
                               Suarez                          Cavani

May be due to the fact that there has been a sh*t load of money spent on this when the country does not have much to spare.

Well, Diego posted some stuff about what's going on in Brazil in the today's news thread. Looks a bit similar to whats been going on in Turkey. Might have something to do with why they did that in the stadium, looks to be heating up there.

Watching the Confederations Cup and Ironically its not the first time I have seen a Jap's eye and a Brazillian on the same screen.

      :D

Nice free kick from Pirlo but what was the keeper doing pulling his hand away?

Think he knew he was not going to get the ball so he just gave up.

Lame Mexico goal keeper kit though.

Been really impressed by Italy. Love the flowing football they play and Ballotelli is a joy to watch at times.

Pirli confirmed to me in the first half the reasons why I love him. Sublime footballer. Montolivio has also impressed.

Would it be a stupid thing to say that Uruguay winning will work against Liverpool considering the whole Suarez debacle?

Certainly there was something to do with that, but I'm not so sure it was only that.
The middle classes and the elites in this country (the ones able to afford FIFA ticket prices) are awfully conservative and they tend to hate PT (Labour Party) which has been in power since 2003. Dilma is still highly popular though, particularly with the lower classes.

I think she deserved being booed for keeping silent in face of awful police repression (Dilma herself in the 60's and 70's was tortured by the military police, so I never ever expected her to be so negligent), but I don't think people in the stadium were booing her for the right reasons. They might as well just be PSDB (PT's main oppositors) voters.

Before and during the game between Mexico x Italy, there was more police violence against protests nearing the stadium. Makes me almost ashamed of going to watch it. Rumor is that street vigilance cameras were turned off so it wouldn't catch the actions of the police against the people in the protests. Makes me sick to turn on the tv after getting home from the game and seeing absolutely NOTHING about it being even mentioned.

Anyway, a picture from today's game:

Pirlo is still awesome despite his age.

Pearce usual sh*t commentary. Hinting Suareź will be playing in Spain next year, and Lawenson being his usual unfunny crassness.

Spain had 94% posession in the first 10 mins. Incredible. That must really tire out the opponents quick
