Only if Young Boys beat Anzhi I believe.

I thought Anzhi had to beat Young Boys? We draw and Young Boys loses or draws and we are through I think

One can always look for the positives: hopefully some team will now delude themselves about Joe Cole and maybe even offer us money (!) for him in January.

      Gutted.

Although in a way it's good to see us trying to attack until the end.

Beaten by two quality strikes at the end of the day.

F***ing gutted. Why do we always have to make it hard for ourselves. We could have been able to relax and bring a young squad to Italy and focus 100% on the league but now we will have to go for it.

Downing offered nothing tonight and Henderson was poor and wasteful.Apart from that we played very well. One negative was the fact that we seem unable to take corner kicks. We must win more of them than any other tea in the league but we rarely challenge for them.We need to work on these much more.

People jumping on Pepe's back for their 2nd are just being very harsh, got deflected, couldn't see it until late and it was hit like a rocket. Jump on his back for coming out and being in no man's land a bit earlier but not for that goal. The man had a week to choose were to hit it, midfield were much more to blame.

      Yep.

We had a lot of good football during the game.

Maybe should have kept it tight at the end but it is refreshing to see us attack and look for another when leading.

      Still a disappointing result.

People are being a bit harsh on Pepe. A deflected bullet from 18 yards? Have any of you actually tried to save one of those, deflected or not?

      Exactly Luke..

People looking for an excuse. It should have been closed down better, he had bodies in front of him so didn't see it til late and it went like a F***ing rocket

No blame on Reina for me

Agree - it was an open game and we just needed a bit more composure in attack

Disappointed with the marking for the equaliser but its not all doom and gloom

      Seriously frustrating that!

Thought Downing and Henderson were their usual sevles! Muck and literally no creativity or offensive play... infuriating! I know henderson played outta position but my god does that guy need a confidence boost!

Reina shouldnt of been beaten by that either! Still aint looking 100%!

Problem with that result is, not only could we potentially not qualify for last 32 but also we cant rest players next week and could suffer a prem defeat due to tired legs!

      To annoyed!

Andy Townsend got it spot on. Naive. Probably the most naive few minutes of football I've seen Liverpool play. Probably most disappointed in Gerrard though.

Brainless football from the likes of Gerrard, Sterling and Suarez. I'm getting bored of Gerrard giving up possession and watching the damage unfold around him.

Also at a loss to explain how a keeper of Reinas quality continues to let shots down the centre of his goal fly past him.

      Anyway stupidity cost us.

I disagree. I think Pepe should have done better, hes not the Reina of old.

Saying that, i don't think hes to blame, the defending was horrendous, and worthy of the conference league.

Kind of have to agree with this, even on instant replay did not see any sort of deflection on that final goal, just a well struck straight ball with alot of pace, Pepe misjudged his jump for the block.

I wonder why when Liverpool is winning Sterling who clearly isn't needing a game enters, when we have Coates and Enrique on the bench, and a defense including Henderson and Downing playing out of position and Carragher.

No blame for the first. Should have saved the second george sorry! But we are not going to agree so there is no point debating. But the defending was dreadful for both goals was dreadful. It was just plain lazy for the second goal, no hint of a tackle, block. He had all f*cking day!

BR needs to start taking this competition seriously. Its bad enough giving up the carling cup the way we did with less than a scratch team. This is europe ffs and we want to be in europe every season. If we are to get back into the CL this competition is where our team and especially the young lads will learn their trade about playing in europe thus gaining experience to play in the CL. We won this competition back in 2001 and playing in it and playing in some big games against big teams certainly helped us when we finally qualified for the CL.

We could have had a week off for the udinese game. We got what we deserved tonight. Roll on sunday.
