Yeah, Bigmick mentioned him the other day as a good buy. Sounds like he's a decent striker, but there is always a danger he could be another Earnshaw knowing Mick :)

See we being linked with a 25M pound move for Berahino.

Everything that's wrong with the game that.. 2 months of good form and is valued at 25 million

So take everything away from that look at it simply

The lad is enjoying his football right now, playing with little pressure at a club like West Brom.. Say he keeps it going and say we went for him and he turns up at Anfield under a 25 million pound price tag and the pressure is immediately immense on the lad, he doesn't get off to a flyer, fails to score in his first few, the pressure of having all that talked about in the press every single day that the 25 million pound man isn't doing it.. Liverpool is different to West Brom simply because of the media attention we get, the expectation to compete and that becomes too much for a lot of players

I often hear all this sh*te like
Why didn't we get that Pelle lad, or Michu... F**k all them lads and they get 20 goals a season

Yes because they are at small clubs who don't have the expectation to succeed, they are happy to win 1 in 4 and if that lad gets a goal in every 3 or 4 he's a hero.. So he gets off to a flyer, his confidence goes through the roof, then he can have 5 sh*te games and they still adore him because his goals early on have got us away from the bottom third.. He probably goes out in Birmingham on a Saturday night and it doesn't make the press and they couldn't give a F**k about West Brom but if our striker wears a hat leaving the stadium he's news for a week.

      The pressure is different.

The Southampton 'success' this season so far.. Great good for them but again they are full of confidence right now, expectation is low and it's fun, can you imagine the pressure any of those lads would have had if they signed for us in the summer? Before a ball is kicked the main stand would be going F***ing Pelle? 28 and what's he done to get a move here.. He's sh*te... Then the pressure is 100 times on the lad already, he was poor at Anfield on his debut, again down there no expectation and media pressure he gets on with it.. Here after a poor debut he would be getting it in the press and social media as soon as the whistle goes and before the next one.. Then he feels pressure to perform, snatches at chances and the next thing we know he's a flop and our managers a F***ing idiot who can't buy a player.

Different levels of pressure and scrutiny.. I'd guarantee the CBS in this league have paid nearly zero attention to him and he is surprising them a touch, before they play him next they will watch dozens of videos, find out how and where he has limitations in his game and force him that way..
      Ala Michu

We by the nature of the size of a club we are will always suffer by having prices hiked and pressure forced on every player who pulls on the shirt, and some may be good players but aren't big enough characters to succeed.

Good luck to the lad.. But 25 million? Give me a break

We're obviously going to be looking for a striker, which we need if Sturridge is still struggling with fitness, but anyone else feel we should have a go for Sami Khedira? Clearly on the outs at Real and would give us a more natural DM than Stevie or Can (and assuming Lucas is also on the outs). Would hate to see Arsenal land him as he's exactly what they're lacking in midfield.

Berahino would be a very good buy I think. He is young and very talented. I think what would be great about the buy is that he would be a great backup for Sturridge and could be a regular starter very quickly. He has many similar attributes to Sturridge so when he is out we have a like for like replacement

Mignolet, Allen, Henderson, Downing, Carroll, Alberto, Aspas, Lambert, Lallana, Lovren... etc

They were all at clubs where there wasn't an expectation to succeed.

After the cock up over the summer with Balotelli and lambert is Berahino going to solve our forward issue, I don't think so.

If there is any truth in the rumour looks like we will have learnt nothing. But at least will be consistent!!

Yes, with Lucas surely on the way out then we do need someone who can come in. He's a cracking player I've liked for a while, obviously you'd have to consider how he has recovered from his injury but so far looks good.

Why do you think he wouldn't? He's nothing like Mario or Lambert.
Fast, takes people on, makes runs behind the defence, scores goals, just what were missing IMO.

we seem to be going around in circles. Not many people seem to think we bought well in the summer and not many seem to think we could put it right in the Jan window.
Brendan wanted to add numbers to "his" squad so ultimately its up to him to put out a winning team. Last season seems  like a distant dream and we have definitely cocked up yet again in the transfer market. With all the info available on players these days how do we still get it so wrong

Nah we need to pull out all the stops now and get proven quality like Reus and forget all these flash in the pans that have no pressures on them to perform .We can't afford another gamble .

Of course Reus would be a dream signing but there is nothing wrong with having a backup plan. Reus may not want to come here for any number of reasons. He also is not a striker. I think Berahino and Reus wouldn't be one or the other unless the prices were too high. In that case Reus would obviously be the first choice.

I'm only being realistic mate,  Reus would be fantastic, but he wouldn't be in our committee budget I'm afraid.

That's why we'll struggle mate , We've blown a fortune on pure dross over the past couple of windows and all because of the owners business policies .

Because it's not an exact science and never has been, any and every club in the world gets transfers wrong..
For someone to deny this is simply being obtuse..

We can agree or disagree with the transfer policy, most probably disagree, but this way that we do it leaves us more open that more may not work out immediately if at all.. But this is the model the manager and club are working to

Who's to blame or point fingers at for that? We will all have our own views.. Some clearly think it's solely the managers

Ask yourself is he a CL player? Would City, Chelsea, Arse or even Manure be in for him?

Of course it's not a exact science but we do seem to get it more wrong than our competitors as evidenced over the last 5 years.

I would think they would yes. Why wouldn't they be? He is young, skilled, talented, has scored goals in the Prem, has played for England at every level. What exactly is the negative on him other than that he doesn't play for a big club?

So he is going us into the Top 4 this season?

He might become a good player in 2-3 years, but so might Origi.

Maybe only because we look so deeply ( and I haven't at other clubs ) but didn't even Slur Arsehole say that transfers over time were 50/50.

You can do all the work in the world on the player, if he doesn't settle then it won't work.

Success is all relative as well, to bigger clubs like ours the bench mark for being deemed a success is higher than 80% of the clubs around.

One of the main reasons we have probably had a higher "fail" rate in my opinion is the lack of stability we have had and constant starting over again we have done, through owners changing, managers changing, established stars leaving and needing to be replaced. But that's a different discussion

Indeed. Even Chelsea who have had a number of managers in the last decade have found consistent success.

Brendan's third year here. There should not really be any kind of transition now. He should be building on his first two years at the club.

Bit disappointed by the recent rumours of Bony and Beranhio being linked to us. Newspaper stuff of course, but would be the typical transfers we are guilty of.

Need more quality and experience. Buying for the future is overrated. Let the kids in the academy be the ones for the future.
