It's rather out of keeping with our usual transfer approach waiting until deadline day to start doing business. I mean I get we may have been in discussions prior to today but just all seems a bit last minute. Did the Matip injury force our hand or were we already looking at options.

Just because we're not hearing it til today doesn't mean we haven't been working on the deal for days or months prior. It's not like Edwards got up this morning, realized it was deadline day, and decided to contact Shalke.

Go to any Schalke-forum. They laughing and saying that for the rumoured price they'd personally bring Kabak to Liverpool. That tells us they don't think he's quite good. Looks like a panic buy from us. Doesn't bode well for Williams/Phillips.

After getting Davies I didn't want to bring another CB for the sake of quantity, but Kabak seems to be a quality signing as well and one that would allow us to move Fabinho back to midfield. Great piece of business if it goes through.

Fab injury not too serious or so we're told, but yeah likely this is down to Matip being out for a while.

Some on here aren't rating Kabak and I've never watched him play so can't comment on his quality, but I don't think the club would have scouted him so extensively if he wasn't the right fit for us.
