Why does he seem a dickhead? He's a bit of a poser with the hair and low down socks. But that cockiness also makes him extremely confident. Not to mention he's a vocal leader and very unselfish. He's like Curtis Jones only better in every area.

I think spending that kind of money on a player would be a mistake. I also don't think galactico-types are a good fit in Jürgen's approach to building a winning team. There I said it.

The only way Barce can if Messi goes , Madrid would need to offload a few. Unless Mbappe is willing to run contract down then it’s hard to see anyone spending £150mil on him

If you believe speculation, Mbappe is either going to Madrid or us. I would actually wager we are in a better financial position to buy him than they are. It’s the wages that would be prohibitive.

Real dont care, theyll debt themselves all they want. We never have and likely never wll be that kind of spender. He earns  just short of 400 grand a week. So thats 19 million a year wages, before we even oay for him. So potentially 80 million waged over 4 years plus nigh on 200 million transfer fee? Dont see it.

Unless as I say we sell Mo for mega money along with 1 or 2 others and decide we arent buying big again for a few years.

It is not unlikely Mbappe will stay at PSG since they win the league every year and will spend absurdly to try to win the CL but Dortmund is going to have a very hard time keeping Haaland since they are not good enough to win the Bundesliga, let alone sniff the CL. The better get for me as well.

. I don't mean I'm opposed to spending big money on a player who would fit in and make such a difference like those two. I'm thinking more about the "big-name celebrity" type signing, where the hype with all the marketing is bigger even than the player's abilities. I'm not even sure that player would fit our system.

So by all means spend what it takes to improve the team, just make sure the players actually fit our system and club personality (nobody bigger than the team, etc.)

Would love to sign Mbappe, though would likely have to sell either Mane/Mo to fund it. Still only 22, super player.

How hard we try to sign someone like him, or Haaland, or someone else in that bracket, might depend on how we finish the season - if we finish strong, with Jota ready to go next year, will be less of a clamour for it.
But if we finish poorly, think there will be talk about the team running its course, the need to freshen up etc and maybe looking at those type of players.

I'm hoping we finish strong, keep the front 4 [can't assume one of them won't want to leave] and strengthen our backup options. Still think there's at least one more proper run at the title from these front lads.

There's talk of Neymar leaving PSG too, but wouldn't tough that winging F***ing diver with a barge pole.
