The right thing was to keep him ! He was their best chance - utter madness.

its almost as bad as sacking a manager that wins the clubs first trophy for 6 years gets to an other final and brings back European football now who in their right  minds would do something like that FFS.

I routinely catch some of the La Liga games and Pochettino is a good young manager. He did a cracking job over at Espanyol, he had them competing for Champions League football with an extremely small budget.

With that being said whatever the Southampton owner is smoking I'd really love a hit of it because what he's doing is suicidal. Adkins has done a fantastic job at Southampton he got them back to back promotions and he's keeping them out of the relegation zone in their first season back.

If they really wanted Pochettino in so badly I'm pretty sure he could have waited until the end of the season and then brought him in but alas short-termism wins again.

Disgusting. 15th place at this point in their first season isn't bad at all. They were just starting to sort themselves out at the back as well.

Seems a very harsh decision.  You would have thought after what he has done for the club - the least they owed him was a full season in the Premier League.

I actually think that the change of manager makes Southampton MORE at risk of going down.  I think there were more than 3 worse teams in the Premier League, but this could have a bad effect on team morale and send them into a spiral.

I assume the Saints fans are as equally bewildered by the decision?

Had a long standing dislike for 'The Saints'. this hasn't improved that opinion.

Unless there is more to it, this is a very weird one.  What more could the owners expect at this stage of the season.

Also read (not sure where) that the new manager said he has been looking at the team for a while - so maybe not the knee jerk it seems.  He was sacked/left by mutual consent from Espanyol in Novemeber.
