It wasn't always like that tho'. I'm almost certain that in his book and at least once thereafter he mentioned that he'd move on to another club because he wanted to play football and there was more to football than just Liverpool.

The point being that he may well change his mind again so who knows.

I think you're right buddy.

I doubt he'd leave. He wouldn't want to leave the north west because his family are settled there and his son is in the academy I think. So unless he goes to Everton who I doubt would take him, it would have to be lower league football.

Seems that Brendan wants to keep him around. It may be up to the Carra now whether or not he wants to put his body through the same strain each week, without playing regularly.

Rodgers spoke recently of his belief that Carragher still has much to offer Liverpool beyond the end of his current contract.

It's a view he still holds.

"We'll just take it week by week - he and I communicate a lot, we know each other's thinking," added the manager on the prospect of a new deal for the centre-back.

"What I know at this stage is he's 35 on January 28, but for me he's still super-fit, in great condition and can still play on."

I see no reason not to offer him some sort of deal based on playing time and potentially starting coaching.

Hope this isn't another catch 22 for Brendan. 

He obviously doesn't want to Carra to retire until he has a suitable replacement in situ which he possibly can't do until Carra's off the payroll. 

If rumours are true that Coates is going out on loan, Wilson's already gone, Kelly's still out injured, that leaves us with Agger, Skrtel, Wisdom, Sama, Coady? and whoever comes in to replace Coates.

That's leaving us very short of options in central defense.
