I've been impressed with him pretty much everytime he's played this season.

Yep agree. Carragher gets the nod vs City for me as well. Made a number of good challenges, won headers on corners, and threw his body about. Great performance by Carra.

We are badly missing a younger Jamie Carragher at the moment.

What a player he is! Natural defender and a born leader.

We can't rely on him every match and we tend to play deeper with him these days, but I wish we had another defender with a presence as commanding as his.

Outstanding performance by Carra tonight, was definitely MotM. Agree with Diego, a young Jamie would be priceless to us at the moment.

99% of players would have turned their backs not Jamie took it head on.

It was telling when the wall turned their backs on Podolski's 2nd shot but not Carra...na he just took it the full force of it right in the guts.

Did you notice in the Oldham game on Sunday when Borini took the ball to the head and Carra and Steveie on the bench were shaking their heads at him?
Then Carra takes that one in the stomach... Thats how you put your body on the line for the cause..

Might be getting on but this lad is seriously one of the best defenders we have ever produced... His positional sense and will to win is worth its weight in gold..

I actually think the rest has probably done him a bit of good.

There was no way he could carry on playing 50 games a season and I think he probably realises that too - which makes things easier for the manager.

His value to the team is still as strong as ever, the leadership and organisation he gives should be something that is right at the top of things when new signings are addressed. We all know sadly he's in his swansong of his playing career and there's no one at the club currently to take on the mantle.

I'd personally have him starting to the end of the season and manage when to give him a rest so he's there for the vital games.

Well done, Jamie. The forgotten man this season, but still puts in performances when it matters, and it now becomes very clear why he didn't play at weekend.
