One quick thing that surprised me is City's commercial revenue was around £40M more than ours.

No doubt that will be related to their fake sponsorship deals?

Will only get more too apparently..

      Quote
Commercial revenue almost doubled to £112.1m
(€138.5m). The most significant component of this
growth was the commencement of the new partnership
with Etihad Airways. As Premier League champions and
now regular Champions League participants, the club
will undoubtedly look to capitalise commercially on their
global status. In 2012/13 they have already agreed a
new deal with Hugo Boss and announced a kit deal with
Nike from the start of the 2013/14 season.

Good article. When I saw the league on the news I was actually surprised we where 9th. Without Champion's league football though we'll continue to decline.

Barcelona and Real Madrid's broadcasting money is insane. Chelsea won the Champions League, FA Cup and still don't come close.

South American interest. It's one of several key markets FSG need to focus us on.

It's because they hog all the broadcast money for themselfs, and leave little for the other Spanish clubs. In other leagues it's more evenly divided between clubs. For that same reason only those 2 Spanish clubs are in this top 20. The Premier League as a whole has a higher broadcast revenue than La Liga. La Liga's broadcast revenue is under alot of pressure too, their new deal should be much lower and the other clubs want it more evenly divided.

      All to do then FSG.

      CL football and redeveloped Anfield.

      Simples.

Simples indeed. CL Football clearly makes a substantial difference.

Nothing of surprise to me here.

The amount of penny pinching going on at Liverpool is at odds with the fact that we are still one of the biggest money earners in world football.

The money's going somewhere, and with 5 more players moved out of the squad and only one brought in so far - it certainly isn't going on players and wages.

      Sahin, Cole, Wilson, Morgan, Ngoo?

I'd be happy if the owners ambition matched the clubs standing.
In the top 10, but spending as if we are Southampton or QPR.

Thought we would be further back to be honest when you consider the teams around us have are all CL regulars.

Like JD said, really does make you wonder where the money is going.

Now let me see, what happened in the 2011/12 season that drained money?

      Rhetorical question.
If people can't remember what went on then they'll have a real problem understanding where money was spent/wasted.

It wasn't just bad player purchases. We wrote off the old stadium plans and paid a hefty price for doing so as well as employing new people to explore the feasibility of the old plans and weigh it against a new stadium plan or expansion of Anfield. There would also have been pay offs for coaching staff contracts, including Kenny's.

      I know all that mate.
Others seem to have forgotten, which is why I put it as a rhetorical question.
