What could have been. When he left he was one of the best in the world for me. We've not had that type of flair player since.

He could drop it on a 6pence with the outside of the boot from 30 yards ... rattle in a 30 yarder, go past 3 or 4 in a yard of space. So exciting to watch. Exceptional player ... like the Brazilians I grew up watching.

Depends on what your opinion of successful is for a player. Phillippe as a individual wise went downhill (rightly considered a flop for the price that was paid) after leaving us yet he still manage to be part of a treble winning Bayern side and picked up some LA Liga titles along the way.

Those pinpoint crosses left you and probably the opposition breathless  but the way his form just evaporated after he left LFC is an abiding mystery, he never regained that amazing talent that placed him above his rivals.
