I hope it isn't discussed somewhere else already, but german media report that Coutinho wants to strike and not play for us in CL to force a transfer in January. If he played for us in CL he couldn't next year for anybody else.

How should LFC deal with that if it's true?

So basically a rehashed story from a couple of weeks ago then!

Wonder how much Liverpool could sue Coutinho for if he messes our season up.

Probably about 0p. Liverpool would have to categorically prove the player's strike was the definitive reason for the under performance and given the other 30 or so players involved, that would be near impossible to achieve.

It's speculation, but it would fit for a guy like C. He behaved "weird" the whole time: first his extension with no buy-out clause till 2022, then his assurance he'll stay with LFC, then 180° turn, then his fake injury. More and more media jumps on it by the way, so I don't know. That'd be a real disaster, I mean I imagine it hard enough to reintergrate him and sell him to the fans, but with stuff like that it'd be really ugly.

So if Liverpool lose a game where they are short on midfielders, we missed out on 4th because of that many points, while he sat on his arse? I really doubt that is hard to prove, they would just have to show a teamsheet with Brannagan in the midfield.

I don't think for one second Phil would pull such a stunt unless he fancies being played in the rezzies for the remainder of his contract.

Delete this topic and put the posts in one of the many Coutinho ones imo.

Discussing it in its own topic gives it credibility that it doesn't deserve. Clearly a story fed to the Spanish papers straight from Barca.

I didn't think Coutinho was capable of what he has done so far, so it wouldn't surprise  me if he did a D.Costa.

Don't believe this for a second, not only because he can't be that stupid but because the nature of the report as Spot is one of the least reliable sources in Spain.

They day after the window closed they were reporting how Liverpool had, at the end, folded and put a price on Coutinho, how his family was devastated and how Barcelona did everything in their power to sign him. They have been printing a lot of sh*t just to make the Barcelona directors look good and try placate the fans who are angry at how things were handled during the summer.

It was an article by a catalonian paper closely associated with barca, and everyone is jumping to the tune.  Threats were made that barca that they were gonna make it hard for LFC,  because, like the Fannies they are, they didnt get thier own way.   They just got a taste of reality peeps.
As for couts let's see if/when he gets back. If he does'nt jump on the private jet, then we will know

Story appeared in the catalan paper sport which at the moment appears to be. In charge of old rat face bartomeu's pr at Barcelona even through to drumming. up support against a proposed no confidence vote against the president the story accused liverpool of all sorts of things ignoring the huge problems at their own door

What a lot of sh*t, the same old Spanish sh*t from another Spanish source.

I'd start him agin City and, by taking the high ground, disarm him. Don't suck the same muck as the thing you despise.

His team mates won't even blink an eye at his return; a bit of teasing maybe but no animosity.

How will he be welcomed back when he walks out at Anfield for the first time? Will it be mixture of boos & cheers? The kid seems to be a low profile sort of guy and just likes to do his talking with his football.

Absolutely. If he's fit and raring to go then he gets in the team. Gotta be done. Looking forward to see him starting v City.

Like they say if you obey the smaller rules, you will be allowed to break the bigger rules. In this case if you are good enough and big enough you can do whatever you want and get away with it. Very disappointed that he is training with the first team as if nothing happened in the interim.

Anyway, what the hell.. As long as the team wins.

Is the idea to punish him by leaving him out for a few games?
