Pre-show match - Tag Team Turmoil to determine number contenders for Kidd and Cesaro's Tag Titles
Prime Time Players start the match against New Day (Big E and Kofi). The crowd is all over New Day again, PTP getting huge cheers every time they do something. Young pins Langston. Next up is the Ascension, who are also getting booed out of the building but not in the way heels should. Viktor however picks up the victory on Titus to eliminate the Prime Time Players. Up next is Los Matordoes, who the Ascension just run over.
Next is their old foes from NXT, Lucha Dragons. This gets a good ten minutes to showcase just how good both teams are. The crowd suddenly start to appreciate the Ascension. Kalisto picks up the victory though. Then the favourites for the match, the Uso's arrive. They struggle to keep up with the Lucha Dragons and suddenly they start using slight heel tactics, showing a different side to them. Unfortunately though, they still lose with Sin Cara getting the win this time.
The Uso's attack the two NXT graduates after the match, confirming their heel turn.
Winners - Lucha Dragons
Match 1 - Daniel Bryan (c) v Bad News Barrett v Sheamus v R-Truth for the Intercontinental Title inside a Steel Cage.
Over the next few weeks, Bryan defends his championship against a variety opponents, having already knocked off Ziggler this past Monday night. Sheamus continues to avoid fighting the champ like a man, instead resorting to sneak attacks backstage and after the matches. Barrett, lingering in the background, keeps reminding us that he's due a rematch and will do so on his own time.
On the final RAW before Extreme Rules, there's a Tag Team match between Sheamus and Barrett against Bryan and Truth. Those from our little island pick up the win and cut a promo after the match. It winds up when Barrett tells Sheamus "he's got some bad news" and hits the Bullhammer on the Irishman.
At Extreme Rules, those two battle against each other for most of the match before turning their attentions to Bryan. Truth, finds his way to the top of the cage but then suddenly his fear of heights hits home again and he starts climbing back down. Bullhammer catches him before Bad News eats a Brogue Kick before Sheamus catches a flying knee to the mush. Bryan retains.
Winner - Daniel Bryan
Match 2 - Curits Axel v Neville in an Axtreme Rules Match
After Neville's victory over Axel on RAW, Mr Perfect's son wants revenge and challenges him to an Axtreme Rules Match. (no rules). Neville wanting to prove himself on the main roster agrees. He, along with the commentary team, constantly make reference to Axel's history in the sport. Both his family heritage and his own success as a former IC champ.
Neville records his second victory over Curtis Axel by hitting his Red Arrow off the top of a ladder.
Winner - Neville
Match 3 - Paige v Bella Twins for the Divas Title
Despite AJ leaving WWE, the Bella Twins continue to make Paige's life a misery. In the weeks leading up to Extreme Rules, Paige is given a different partner every week but constantly loses. The Bellas get even more confident and then laugh at Paige when she wants a shot at the Divas Title. So Paige says she'll take on both Bellas on her own if the title is on the line. Eventually they agree.
The stipulation is though if Brie pins Paige, then she wins the title rather than retaining it for Nikki. So when Brie goes for the pin, Nikki gets a cob on and breaks up the pin. This lead to the twins arguing. In the meantime, Paige recovers. Knocks Brie out the ring before hitting the Rampaige on Nikki to win her third Divas Title.
Winner - Paige
Match 4 - Kidd and Cesaro v Lucha Dragons in a No Holds Barred Tornado Tag Match for the Tag Team Titles
After winning the match on the pre-show, Sin Cara and Kalisto attempt to win the titles from Kidd and Cesaro. Their injuries from the attack by the Uso's are really hindering them as Kidd and Cesaro show their technical prowess by exploiting them. Sharpshooters and Boston Crabs are locked in to keep the Luchadores down.
They get to mount some sort of comeback but eventually lose due to their injuries. Sin Cara is forced to tap out to Kidd's Sharpshooter.
Winners - Kidd and Cesaro
Match 5 - Miz v Mizdow in a First Blood Match (do they even still exist?)
The two finally split and are given a match at Extreme Rules. They simply want to tear the other apart and the only way to settle it is in a First Blood Match. Miz has some dirty tricks though and while the ref's back is turned, uses a fake blood capsule to try to and show he's won the match.
The ref buys it as well, awarding the victory to Miz, much to the disappointment of the fans. After the match though, Mizdow gets his revenge by hitting a skull crushing finale on a steel chair, busting Miz open in the process.
Winner - Miz
Match 6 - Roman Reigns v Dean Ambrose v Bray Wyatt v Rusev v Luke Harper v Stardust in a Six Man Extreme Rules Match to determine the new number one contender for the WWE Title
Triple H cuts a promo about Rollins, calling him The Future. In the process, he says The Future is now the present and this is a new era. So in order to usher in this new era, we need new stars. So the new number one contender will be one of the six brightest young stars on the roster, none of whom have been World Champion before.
All six look strong going into Extreme Rules, picking up victories over others on the roster (including former World Champs like Ziggler, Kane, Big Show and Mark Henry). It's really difficult to pick who's going to win the match though of course the fans all think it's Reigns. The match is as exciting as anything else on the card, ensuring all six men look strong coming out of it.
It breaks down to the two former members of the Shield, Reigns and Ambrose. Reigns hits the Superman Punch on Ambrose, who falls into the ropes and does his clothesline, knocking Reigns down. Ambrose goes to the top rope, hits his elbow drop and gets the victory.
Winner - Dean Ambrose
Match 7 - John Cena v Jack Swagger for the US Title in a Submission Match
Swagger makes his return to the squared circle with Zeb Colter by his side. He says Cena is an embarrassment to hold the US Title, that a Real American should win the US Title. And no Real American is hated by his own people like Cena is. The fans lap it up, giving Swagger huge pops.
However, Cena says a Real American fights despite the adversaries he faces.
At Extreme Rules, Cena locks in the STF and forces Swagger to tap to retain his title. After the match, Zeb Colter says that he was wrong about Cena and he is a Real American. Cena joins Colter and Swagger in a "we the people" chant. The two team up over the next few weeks as the American Patriots.
Winner - John Cena
Main Event - Seth Rollins v Randy Orton for the WWE Title in a Street Fight
Despite Triple H, Seth Rollins and the entire Authority thinking the future is now, Randy Orton has other ideas. He gets the Authority to give him his match for the WWE Title by putting on the line that he'll never challenge for the title again while Rollins is champ.
The match they deliver is as good as the one from WrestleMania. They don't use a lot of the stipulation, instead rely on good old fashioned wrestling. They give everything they have to the other, both countering the other's finishers. Eventually, Rollins picks up the victory when he hits Orton with the Curb Stomp on the cinder blocks. Orton is out cold, Rollins is laughing evily as the Authority joins him in his celebration.
Winner - Seth Rollins
