Which defenders would you like LFC to bring in and how many?

Anyone saying Shawcross needs to have a real look at the way they view football. He's nothing but a big thug and if he played for any team other than Stoke everyone would recognise it.

I wouldn't write Martin Skrtel off just yet. A year ago everyone was raving about him, and he's definately good enough to be in our squad. When he's playing well he's a very good centre half.

Spot on. I think his defensive "flaws" become more apparent when we play with wingbacks as well, probably because he  ballwatches rather than being aware of what is happening around him.

Think we can get better, but definitely good enough to keep as a squad player.

You could also argue the mistake from the game was another midfielder putting a defender under unnecessary pressure. We need to strengthen our defence with cover, not sell defenders. As for Shawcross, as someone else said, the lad is a thug and we don't need players who are liable to get themselves sent off in matches.

Ideally, I'd bust my balls to get Baines, he to me would be bang on in terms of recruiting the type of player that would take us to another level defensively, he oozes class that fella, and it's such a shame he plies his trade at that wee shitty club across the park, a decent offer of around £15m-£20m could be enough to make Kenwright cum in his pants,

As for a cb, tbh I'm not clued up on the fella Howedes but I trust other posters evaluation of him, I like Ashley Williams  @ Swans but I'd rather we save some millions and promote from within ie young Kelly,

The thought of Kenwright's face would be a picture but I doubt it would happen, a couple of cb's are the main focus, someone like Dawson and the lad from Feyenoord would do me fine.

We were linked with him when he was in Spain. Looked a little raw then but he is an animal now.

It is difficult. Defenders like Terry, Carvalho, Carragher, Pepe, Puyol etc. They can be liabilities but they can defend and lead. I think the only thing keeping Utd in it, is not RVP but Ferdinand, Evra, Vidic oh and the FA and the Refs. Defenders who are confident, can lead and can defend is what we need (at least one). They don't have to be great players with the ball, despite our new look football. In fact their mentality doesn't allow for great passing football, but we need one. I think Agger, Skertl and the rest are very talented football players and defenders but they aren't leaders and they aren't out and out natural defenders.
