      Luis Muriel - Udinese
      May 31, 2013 03:45:21 pm
The Express and Gazzetta dello Sport going with this.

Don't ask me, never heard of him.

Liverpool eye up Udinese striker Luis Muriel as Luis Suarez replacement

LIVERPOOL have shifted their focus to Italy as they look to make contingency plans in the event Luis Suarez should leave.

Suarez, who hit 23 goals in the Premier League last season, said that he would find it difficult to turn down a move to Real Madrid after he bemoaned the media's constant criticism of him.

We reported that Real are closing in on a move for Suarez and all that is left to finalise is his release clause which stands at £40m.

The Reds have already signed Iago Aspas for a reported £8m, however are keen to add more firepower to their attack.

Football website talkaloadofbull.com describes Udinese's Luis Muriel as a player equipped with blistering pace and lethal finishing, however has been plagued by injury problems.

They also note that Juventus, Inter, AC Milan and Roma have all been clamouring for his signature.

Muriel notched up seven goals in 29 Serie A appearances last term.

Both transfermarkt and whoscored have him with 11 in 22 Serie A matches, averaging just 63 minutes a game.

Ye I checked on Soccerway before and they have him down as scoring 11 in 22 Serie A matches but he only started 15 of those 22 which makes it look a slightly better record.

I bet my ballsack he will be a star for us. Only thing he needs is a bit more strength.

Quick as they come, terrific in front of goal, very good with the ball. If we don't snare him now for the reported fee, he will leave for a bigger fee to a massive club and then we won't be in with a sniff.

Thanks for useful info crouchie mate.

I'm never watch him play but think he's look very very promising. And his teeth, it's Suarez's and Ronaldo's one :D

I know it's only fifa but Luis Muriel, Wellington Nem and Xeridan Shaqiri are 3 players I've had in my LP team for a while. The only footage I've seen of them is probably 2 games worth each over the past year but I would love to have them in our team. Pacey technical players.

Agreed... much better we snare him now for a low fee then sell him on to a massive club, for a bigger fee, later. All part of the plan Redmen... all part of the plan.

Some new links surfacing today with us being in for Muriel.  Seems to be mostly speculation at this point but hopefully this comes off whether Suarez stays or goes.  Looks like a real talent.

If we sold Suarez for 50m to Arsenal then got Muriel for 25m, we would be getting the better deal.  Age, Price,  Controversy. . Etc..but,.. we to sell and buy on the same day to ensure we don't end up short of strikers. Still rather Suarez went abroad.

Just happy that we are being linked again. But it's gonna be either him or Soldado.

Would prefer him, age and longevity being the reasons. But we definitely need experience up top.

Maybe if we signed players of this calibre in addition to Suarez we'd be in the Champions League and he wouldn't be wanting away?

On the 11 July Brendan told us: "What we've done in the early part of the summer is to improve the squad. That's something I feel we've done  with the players we've brought in. Now what's important over the next three to five weeks is improving the team. That's something the club is working very hard at."

Yet the only 'movement', since then, has been for Aly Cissokho on loan, with an option to buy, for less than £4m. Is Aly Cissokho really the type of player Brendan had in mind as a team improver? Could we really have been watching him more than Luis Muriel?

By all accounts Luis Muriel is a quality player, on the brink of something big... have we really to wait before we move? Is one in, one out, really the way to go for a team with ambition?

If we want Muriel we should sign him now. No waiting, no F***ing about. It's no harder to sign a £25m player than it is a £5m player.

Hope we get this guy if Suarez leaves. While I like Soldado he is more of a fox in the box player, the type of player I hope Borini will develop into. Muriel is more a cross between Suarez and Brazilian Ronaldo with potential to be as good as both in a few years.

Providing a player deemed good enough to be worth £25m is willing to come to a lowly non-CL club such as ours, that is.

Suarez is banned for the starting games anyway. I would say we should get the replacements before we sell him unless Aspas is Suarez replacement and we are going to invest the money in defense.

Rat boy. What a F***ing way to speak about one of our own. Do you know where we would be know without this lads input last season (and i dont just mean goals before you start ranting that "we're better off without him" statistic.  BR wouldn't be here that's for sure. Yes he hasn't acted in the best interests of the club, but how many players do now a days; Reina, Alonso, Mascherano, McMannaman, the list goes on, do you hate them all - they all said they wanted to leave to Barca/Real?. You cant blame him for wanting success when hes one of the best players in the world. With that said that your buying way to much into the such "reliable" headlines.
Bet you'll be salivating sucking his bell end come end of season when he gets us top four. Just remember you suck rat balls.

This is the player who we should be bringing in to replace Suarez. Outstanding.

Fans would forget about rat boy overnight..

It's ignorance like this that will only help drive Suarez out, people are so stupid honestly. People saying "oh I don't care if he stay or goes" where on earth is the ambition in 'not caring' about one the best players to ever wear the shirt. It just frustrates me to no end.

Suarez is certainly not one of the best players to ever wear the shirt. You have to stay here longer than a season and a half to accomplish this. You can hardly fault anyone for not showing an interest in keeping him anymore it is very clear he is through with Liverpool so why must we back him to the moon. Don't boo him or piss on him but full backing doesn't need to be shown.

come on mag you can't blame fans for losing the plot a bit when players treat the club and supporters like sh*te,the lies he said about the media and his lack of acknowledgment to the fans on Saturday I think has seen even his ardent fans say enough is enough.

Come on mate, if time at the club determined who our best players are then why does no one talk about how good Steve Staunton was. He's better than any other striker I've seen at the club baring Torres possibly, without doubt one of the best on talent alone. I just don't see how people want to get rid of him... It's a massive step backwards, pride comes before a fall and I think it's time some of us swallow ours, accept the sh*t that's happened and hope to God he stays because he's the best chance at CL football we have right now.

He really is.  You don't have to like his antics, none of us do.  But he's definitely one of the best players ever to play for us.

I can easily think of 10 Liverpool players in their pomp who were just as good if not better than Suarez and that's just in the last 30 years.

Yeh I wouldn't mind being one of the top 1% of players to play for Liverpool.

As for Muriel, sounds like a target that'd potentially replace him

Agree with Mags and I can't believe I'm saying this but with Fed as well.  ;) On the field Suarez is a Class act. There's only 2 players I feel are better all round players at the moment than him, we know who they are, they're never coming here so it is a must for us to keep superstar players of Suarez's ilk if we want to push on and challenge for Titles.

Unfortuanetly, Suarez doesn't want to go the journey with us. It's a F***ing shame he wants out, going to be gutted not having him on that teamsheet but if I see his name on a Gunners teamsheet, I think I might go into meltdown.

Rat boy. What a f**king way to speak about one of our own.

You really don't know anything about Liverppol football club do you you can't even spell McManaman you tit.
We need Suarez like we need cancer

He's not as good as you think he is not by a long way. He's divisive, selfish & ungrateful in the extreme.
We've done better in the past without him & we'll do better in the future without him.

I don't hate any of our former player's & i don't hate him i just want him out so we can replace him with
someone who want's to wear the shirt..

      ^ This.

      Get him in.

Him and Lamela are the best young talents going in the Serie A that i think we could sign.

Mauro Icardi would of been a perfect signing. Cheap, young, full of talent but he went to Inter earlier this year.

      infact no, you deserve a bashing;
Did i say he was not unselfish, ungrateful? no.
I said he is one of the best players in the world. Other than Messi, Ronaldo, Bale, i cant really compare him to another, and he is pretty much the best at what he does which is to take people on, meg them and create something out of nothing.

This is a bit uncalled for mate. Mac was just trying to say he doesn't players who don't want to wear the shirt to play for Liverpool. That is what I have taken from his posts. And he is 100% right. He was more so venting his frustration at the way Suarez has been acting and you tried taking it to him. Everyone has been frustrated with this so you can fault him for that.

Muriel hasn't committed for the shirt, but if he comes here he obviously wants to play for us. Common sense tells you that. But there is no way to tell if he will come here or not, therefore your argument is not invalid.

If not this season, next season he will move.

He mentioned he wants to move on soon from Udinese in January i think. Rumours were Juve pounced for him early but looks unlikely now with Llorente and Tevez.

Not many clubs will be in the market for him now. No Italians club need him unless Fiorentina come in for him but highly doubtful, all the others have bought or already have their strikers they need.

Abroad from Italy, clubs like Spurs, Porto, etc. have got their striker. I don't see him moving to Germany given he doesn't fit in Dortmund's style and Bayern don't need him - no other club would be big enough for him i think. France...meh. Maybe but doubtful. PSG bought, Monaco bought. Lyon and Marseille etc. couldn't afford him given their recent history.

Spain - Atletico maybe. None others in the market for a striker unles Valencia decide to spend money for once.

I would do anything to see the club move in for him. Perfect chance to snare a young star with little/no competition. Maybe Arsenal could make their move. Would be funny as F**k to keep Luis, they lose out on Higuain and we snare Muriel too.

A bit of a ramble there but SIGN MURIEL PLEASE.

Rodgers has said he is looking for 1-2 players for cover and 1-2 attackers. Most of the strikers have moved therefore there aren't that many left. If Suarez goes i would imagine we are looking at at least 2 attackers. Not too many players left and therefore I'm sure Rodgers has mentioned Muriel before or maybe a scout has. Especially with Colombia ranked 3rd in the world now (not sure if that makes a difference ;D).

Again I was thinking that so I wouldn't be surprised if I am 100% wrong. Seems like the lad is a quality player though.

We had scouts over watching him 3 days ago (8th August) in their europa league qualifying tie against Siroki Brijegin according to Tutto Mercato.

      http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie-a/udinese-moyes-sogna-muriel-lo-vuole-per-il-dopo-rooney-allo-united-472874

Interesting background on the dream of the market for the attack of Manchester United, unveiled by Metro today. With Wayne Rooney is a step away from the Adda, according to the newspaper the Red Devils would be interested in Colombian Luis Muriel. Moyes is longtime admirer of the South American Udinese and the new scout leader of the English club, Robbie Cooke, is ready to give the assault on the twenty-two with a proposal for a £ 18 million. Eleven goals last season, Muriel was also followed by Liverpool and Barcelona with the respective observers viewing in the Europa League against Siroki in the first leg, when he signed a one-two. One proposal, that of the Red Devils, that Udinese will not take appropriately into account.
