Iago Aspas set to return to Celta Vigo from Sevilla
Celta Vigo have reached an agreement with Sevilla for the transfer of former Liverpool forward Iago Aspas, both clubs have announced.
Aspas, 27, had come through the youth ranks at Celta but left for Liverpool in 2013.
He was unable to make an impact at Anfield and
moved on to Sevilla on loan for the 2014-15, with the Europa League champions obliged to make the deal permanent for €7 million at the end of the season. However, having had limited playing time at Sevilla, he is now set to return to Galicia. The deal, which is subject to a medical, is set to be completed when the transfer window opens on July 1.
Celta announced on their official website: "The Vigo club and Sevilla today reached a tentative agreement that, once he has passed a medical and completed the [transfer] process, will see Iago Aspas return home."
Aspas told ESPN FC last month that it had been "difficult" for him during his loan spell at Sevilla.
"The coach has played almost the whole season with just one forward," he said. "[Carlos] Bacca and [Kevin] Gameiro have scored a lot of goals. I have too in the small bit of time I have got to play, but it is difficult. I have done well, but my teammates have too."
