Looks like a hell of a player, bloody man mountain with excellent touch heading ability and sheer brute strength in the shot.
If goofy is leaving then I wouldn't mind slapping in a bid of say £18 mill.

No thanks. Sturridge is better. Benteke looks a good player that deserves a move up, but striker is one position we are decently stocked in.

I'd love him here. He's quick, strong, great in the air, comfortable with the ball at his feet and clinical.

No chance unless Luis leaves though

Rather wait to see how we do for the 1st six games to decide Suarez's future...I reckon we will keep him until the January window.

Looks a different player than Sturridge if you ask me. More of a true #9 player, a poacher while Sturridge reminds me more of a winger even though he doesn't like it there. If Suarez goes I would take him in a heartbeat for around or under 22m. Think he'd add loads of goals to the squad.

You sure about that? Carroll has been sold, Borini isn't exactly convincing at the moment and the other fella is chasing after madrid? If something happened to Sturridge (who is currently injured) where would we turn? I guess we have Aspas, as well as Alberto...but are these lads strikers or forwards/number 10s or wide forwards. I have not seen enough of them to judge.

Benteke caused us alot of problems last season and looked a handful.

After selling Carroll for a 17m loss cannot see us buying another target man.

I know benteke is more mobile and can do more but just don't see it

I think we could do with an alternative striking option and he would be someone who would fit the bill. A good all-round finisher, more mobile and skillful than Carroll, good at making runs in behind and possesses good physical strength and aerial ability. Problem is he'd cost an absolute fortune and we need to focus on shoring up the defence and midfield before looking at an option like that.

I personally hope we sign Benteke this summer.
-Good      : He's real quality proven in EPL.
                       Very young.
                       Excellent plan-B option.
Save millions by having Stewart Downing make weight as A.Villa would like to get him back.

-No Good : May not full fit to BR's main system.
He might not happy on the bench.

      I'd rather have Lukaku.

I'm probably going to be proved wrong, but Benteke looks like one of those flash in the pan type players, who have one good season and then the opposition suss them out and they become mush less effective.

On the other hand, I think Lukaku will be an absolute beast.

Id rather of signed Benteke for 25mil than getting in Alberto and Aspas as he meets the criteria of being young and hungry for success and because i think he is an absolute beast that can play with his feet as well as aerially which would give us something different. I hope if Suarez goes we are in for him because he is going to be a worldie and would be perfect for our 'system'.

I'm probably in the minority in saying that I wouldn't take him. Just fear for him being a one season wonder and would cost what 25m+ ? For that price, no thanks.

How come in the English league, you get bought for 8 mil, have 1 good season and are then worth 25m ???

I would be happy with either Lukaku or Benteke. Very very similar players and both them player for Belgium up front defenders most be scared shitless coming up against them to brutes.  :lmao: Serious though Lukaku probably cost a little less and i dont think he will be 1st choice or even 2nd choice at chevski so we might have a chance there.

Would prefer Lukaku to Benteke if I had a choice, but honestly don't think either of them are right for the system we play. As plan B would jump at the chance of either of them but pretty sure neither would take that as an option and with regards Lukaku, don't see Chelsea selling him.

Might as well be papa or Varane, Aspas or Cavani, Mignolet or Cech

No way Lukaku would be sold by chelsea

Doubtful Benteke is a realistic target either

I wouldnt be so sure - we got Sturridge who to be fair at Chelsea also had a season on Loan before leaving... If he aint going to play and wont stay on the bench they will sell him.

Regarding Benteke, I think if Suarez goes we should get him - or perhaps if we know we are going to sell go in for him before we get lots of money they can take from us. He looks class, has everything we need in a player - and forget 'plan b' its a long season and even without Europe we will need to rotate players and change our style against different teams.

Difference being Lukaku cost about 20m and Sturridge was free.

And Lukaku's also one of the best young strikers in the world, Sturridge was never in that category.

So it turns out he has put in a transfer request, there was rumour of us being interested in him before this so Im sure this will further the situation. I think he's a decent player but some saying AV want £25 million for him! Would never take a player who has just had 1 good season for that (think to the Carroll situation)

A lot of speculation Spurs are in for him.
Have to say he looked against us last season at Anfield..

TBH i think Lambert may call his bluff & let him play in the reserves for a month

Benteke has high hopes of leading the line for Belguim at next summers world cup
& a month or 2 in the reserves might change his mind.

Personally i'd sell him if i were Lambert at £25 mill all he needs is a niggly injury or
a bit of poor form for his value to half..

Must be a tw*t being a Villa fan these days every time you get a player who's any
good he wants a big money move..

Would i want him as a replacement for Suarez?
Don't think so but i'd have him as Carroll's replacement for the same wedge all day..

That will always happen when you've got kids, on small wages, playing for a team who's owners have no ambition. Buy low - sell high... it's "good business".

Selling Benteke saves Randy having to fork out. I reckon he'll go for £20m+ and £80k+ a week. Too rich for our blood.

Yeah couldn't agree more i wasn't looking for the reason why it happens tbh

I was just saying it must be seroiusly disheartening following Villa these days.

And not every club can have a Sheik Mansour or Roman Abramovich as there owner.

I'm not too sure he will go for that much myself the reason being the club's who can
afford £20m+ and £80k+ a week are probably not going to give him that much playing time.
And this season he needs playing time with the World Cup coming up?

We'll see but i wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at Anfield especially if Luis goes (which he will  ;))

I'd be trying to do a deal with Villa including Downing if i were Bendan

Not that i think Paul Lambert would be that keen but you never know
Downing was excellent for them when he was there..

Benteke going to Spurs is a big obstacle to our chances of qualifing for the CL if you ask me

I'd love to see that happen with any player who throws in a transfer request under contract. In reality, however Villa couldn't afford to carry a disgruntled player, knowing they could flog him for a decent fee.

Are you serious, Judas on the cheap, i don't want that Kunt anywhere near us, he had his chance and chose to F**k off, so F**k him, i would hate it if we lost Luis but would have to accept if he went abroad, if he went to Chavs he would be no better than Judas,  for that reason it would be £40m + Lukaku only this would somewhat ease the pain
