Southend were meant to sign Jakub Sokolik this summer, Phil Brown was confident that we'd sign our former loanee permanently following his release by Liverpool but the chance to play in League 1 has seen us miss out.
Had we got promoted last season, as we so nearly did, you'd think the 21 year old defender would be our player now but it wasn't to be.
Defeat was conceded in the efforts to sign the Czech defender towards the end of last week, Brown left the door open for him if he wanted to come to Roots Hall but his agent had informed him that he was signing a contract with the Championship relegated side from last season Yeovil Town, which he had.
That move was confirmed on Monday with his signing a two year contract.
