      • From Doubters to Champions of the World
      David Coleman

Just heard on 5 live that David Coleman has died, he was 87 yrs old,

For those of a certain age who remember David as the face of British sport, he was prominent on the BBC, which had the monopoly in broadcasting sporting events,
David covered 11 Olympic Games as well as presenting Grandstand, sportsnight and also commentated in various sports including football , athletics in particular,
He was also famous for sporting gaffes some of which are legendary,

A sad day for British sport,

      Condolences to David's family,

      RIP David Coleman

      Thanks for the memories

"If that had gone in, it would have been a goal."

"He is accelerating all the time. The last lap was run in 64 seconds and the one before in 62."

"The Republic of China: back in the Olympic Games for the first time."

"That's the fastest time ever run, but it's not as fast as the world record."

"There is a fine line between serendipity and stalking."

"This evening is a very different evening from the morning we had this morning."
