AFC Bournemouth vs Liverpool: January 25th at 12:45
      Jan 15, 2014 12:51:25 am
Bournemouth next for the mighty Reds in the FA Cup, won't be easy and they'll all be up for it looking for a premier league scalp. The way things are at the moment, I think we'll pick a team that's pretty much full strength; but having said that, I still think we'll have enough to go through fairly comfortably.

      Thoughts?

      Ja.

Good news for armchair fans.  Bad news for travelling fans.  12:45 kick off all the way down at Bournemouth and apparently the trains are a nightmare that day.  Good luck if you're travelling down there.

No doubt we'll find a spectacular way to make this the hardest game of our season. Just hope we come through it unlike Oldham last season.

Just as likely to be on as Liverpool still pull in viewers like very few other clubs and ITV can gouge advertisers.

4 hours 40 minutes of a drive. Tickets will be like rocking horse sh*te. A bigger ground than Oldham's though.

Anyone know anything about Bournemouth? And anyone on here making the trip down?

The tickets will sell out in Bournemouth itself, the majority are Liverpool supporters down on the Southcoast just like Brighton.

Will the date of this game impact the derby at the end of the month?  Both us and Everton have games the weekend of the 25th, and the derby is scheduled for Tuesday the 28th.  I doubt it will be rescheduled, but I figured I'd ask in case someone on here has more info....

This derby is shaping up to be one of the biggest games between us in recent years!!  Going to be a real treat watching SAS run them ragged :)

I'd play our strongest team, notwithstanding injuries and the fact we can't drop Mignolet.

      --------------------Mig----------------------

      Johnson------Skrtel-------Sakho (if fit)-------Flanno (if fit)

      --------Henderson--------Gerrard------------Allen

      Sterling------------Suarez----------------Sturridge

This would have been a good time to try Gerrard in the DM role and we would have got 3 points against villa,  I'd certainly have Coutinho Henderson Allen Sterling starting in midfield I would hope.  We can use Gerrard at half time if we ain't winning. This game is against championship opposition so we need a decent lineup, but I'd probably give Aspas a chance upfront and give Suarez a bit of a rest.

Considering we have the Bitters at home only three days later I most certainly wouldn't play our strongest team.

      I'd go with...

                                    Mig

      Kelly          Toure            Skrte        Cissokho

            Henderson     Alberto        Allen

      Moses                 Aspas               Coutinho

Bring Luis, Danny and Stevie on in the second half if we're struggling.

I wouldn't underestimate Bournemouth mate, regardless whether it is Bournemouth or not, they will be right up for this and at home aswell. We did the exact same thing away to Oldham and got humiliated.

if we have Alberto on we can't rely on him in CM without a DM in a 433. Our defence would be badly exposed. I don't see us permanently buying Moses... so it is a bit wasteful to give him experience.  If you wanted to play moses and Alberto we'd have to have either allen or Henderson on the bench.

Here is what I would do,

                           Mignolet

      Johnson Sakho Toure Cissokho

      Coutinho Henderson Allen Sterling

                    Sturridge  Aspas

Subs: Jones, Suarez,  Gerrard, Alberto,  Skrtel,  Moses.

If we are not winning after 65 mins I would put Gerrard and Suarez on. If we are winning 3-0 at 70 I would rest Sakho Sturridge and Coutinho for Skrtel  moses and Alberto.

What's the point of having a squad if we don't use it? If we play our strongest side and pick up injuries everyone will go nuts we didn't rest our first team players before a big PL game!

we will use the squad but to play Alberto in cm with no dm in a 433 is rediculous. To just suggest that shows an utter lack of knowledge about our team.

I would rest Gerrard, Suarez, Henderson and Coutinho for this game. I presume Jones will be given his chance, so that means Mignolet gets a rest too.

                                       Jones

      Kelly             Skrtel              Sakho       Johnson

Only have 15 fit, first-team players at the minute anyway, and a few could do with time off before the derby, I would say 'rest' Mignolet, Gerrard, Suarez + Coutinho. And dont give full games to Henderson, Sturridge + Sterling if possible. Obviously leaves us with a lot of gaps to fill with the youngsters so I would go with this...

                            Jones
               Kelly   Toure   Skrtel  Cissokho
                            Rossiter
                      Henderson  Alberto
                   Sterling          Moses
                             Aspas

Mignolet; Brad Smith, Lloyd Jones; Joao Teixiera, Gerrard; Coutinho, Sturridge.

      4th place more important
Aspas needs his confidence built up
      We are short of midfielders
We can't start coutinho and SSS in the derby

      So
      Mignolet
      Kelly toure Skrtel Cissokho
      Moses Henderson rossitter Ibe
      Coutinho
      Aspas

      Thats it Billy.  Nothing less.

(See BR has "bigged up" Bournemouth. That was a Hodgson trick to have the self righteous light shine on him when we won and justification for it when we lost.)

Surely we have moved on from Oldham ? (Apparently Coates is going back to Nacional )

Hodgson ?   Skin and creep come to mind. Ugh.

I think Sturridge should start against Bournemouth, for his goal scoring potential, play Aspas and rest Suarez for the all important Derby, on Tuesday.  Think a decent cup run would be a good thing considering no European games to look forward to this season.

I remember somebody putting Ibe in the Oldham line up and reddebs said he was injured? Not sure, defiantly was him though. What about Teixera?

Ohhh that's good to see. Will he start though after only coming back from injury last week? A place on the bench and a run out in the second half would reasonable.

This is the Liverpool squad listed available for tomorrows game: Jones, Flanagan, Kelly, Toure, Skrtel, Cissokho, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho, Mignolet, Alberto, Aspas, Moses, Ibe, Smith, Rossiter.

Allen is doubtful and will not risk it. Sakho is still out :(

Ugh.

So would you be quite happy if he was to talk down Bournemouth? Say "it should be easy"? That sort of attitude led many on here to predict 5-0, 8-0 victories against Villa last week. The only way we win is if we respect our opponents. We'd be damned if our manager and our team started talking like that. Dalglish, two years ago before the 5-1 victory over Oldham said 'League positions don't matter in cup competitions or in any game. On any one day, any team can beat anyone else'. I'm guessing Kenny wasn't maligned in much the same way.

It could be a tricky day for us if we are not up to it from the start. How many times have you seen teams not start well in the FA cup only to find themselves 2-0 down and leaving it too late to get started.
Its a trophy and a Wembley appearance it shouldn't need the manager to get them up for it.

Think we'll really struggle against them as we usually do against the weaker teams. With a midweek derby to come I feel like we have to make some changes as well.

Migs; Flanno, Skrtel, Toure, Brad Smith; Gerrard, Rossiter, Henderson; Ibe, Suarez, Sterling

This is the team for me too.

If one of the Bournmouth DMs impresses maybe we could sign him before the end of the window. For 100 grand. Then have the Chavs nick him away for 150.

Seriously though, would be great to have a Cup run, draws have been OK so far, so maybe it's our year  :)

I would say Brad Jones would usually play in this sort of match, but Mignolet in my opinion, needs all the practice he can get following his last few games. Its patently obvious that Gerrard isn't a defensive midfielder, and only looks decent along side Lucas. Without Lucas he looks crap. He needs pushing forward and let Hendo do the defensive bit with Allen, who are both more mobile. Sissokho shouldn't be considered due to his lack of form, or possibly ability, and I can't see any reason not to play Kelly as he's fit, and warmed the bench for the last couple of weeks when we know he can do better than what we had on the field. Flanno apparently fit as well, so full backs sorted. Skrtel and Sakho for centre backs. Stirling, Suarez and Sturridge up front.  With Gerrards passing from a more advanced roll, and Allen and Henderson covering in tandem, we should get a decent bit of service to the strikers and wingers, and rip these to bits. If Gerrard aint doing it, get Coutinho on and see if his service to the forwards has recovered.

I have towork today so I'm going to miss this but hope we get the win as I'd love a good cup run this season.

It has to be a dcecent strenght side I feel as we can't take the chance of an upset so play the strong starting side then bring players off.

Based on that squad I'd go with:

                      Jones

      Kelly  Skrtel   Toure   Flanno

                Rossiter   Gerrard

                     Henderson

      Ibe        Sturridge      Moses

If things are going well, take Stevie and Sturridge off as early as possible.
