I have a bad feeling about this. Worst case scenario, Uruguay will risk playing Suarez knowing he's not 100% fit, therefore, resulting in aggravating the injury and putting him out even longer :(

Surgery JUST finished. Medical report says it was just a minor tear on his left meniscus and not all needed removal.
Recovery time will be lower but he may miss the first game as a precaution ( costa rica)

Prospect looks good considering he is a fast healer.

Report also says he thinks he busted it on the last match

I actually thought for a while he had some sort of superhuman power that he didn't get injured.

And it could very well be, blatant red.
I was relieved to see Luis walk after that challenge, to hear it caused damage is no surprise.

Injury wasnt noticed because he hadnt trained since that match and pain dissapeared. As soon as he started trainning again he felt it and the rest we all know.

But exterior meniscus injuries where no ligaments are compromised are the least complicated, he will be up and running in no time

Totally agree mate, was a horror challenge and I was surprised to see him get up so quickly.

Great to hear the surgery was a success and just hope they don't rush him back for the world cup, I know it means an awful lot to our Uruguayan friends but there's only one thing important to me.

here is my take on this

      1)  I hope LFC sends their own doctors and checks / confirm this 2-3 wk recovery is ok

      2) really feel for luis.  at 27 and for the position he plays, there is a good chance this might be his last WC.

      3) LFC needs to send in their own doctors (yes I put it twice because Uruguay's motivation for luis is different than ours and knowing luis, he would want to play even if he's only got one leg left)

27 and this might be his last world cup? Disagree 100%. Why does everyone think people in their late 20's are close to retiring or being finished? Players can play well into their 30's nowadays. Messi turns 27 in June, will this be his last world cup as well? Just because they are attackers does not mean sh*t. It is not like he will lose all of his abilities in 4 years.

Messi at 27 will play in another World Cup because Argentina will qualify. Luis at 27 may not because Uruguay may not.

Especially when Forlan is still getting picked at 35. When you consider the difference in quality, that should see Suarez getting picked well into his 60's.

This is terrible news! Suarez is actually human after all!!

Disappointed for the lad, the worlds best player deserves to be playing on the worlds biggest stage. Add to that it increases Englands chances of qualifying from the group stages, and it makes the situation a whole lot worse!!  xxxxx:action-smiley-065: ;D

Gutted for Luis. We know how much he loves just to play The Game and being a WC year in South America will cause him even more grief if he was to miss out on it. Get well soon Luis.

Uruguay will not win the world cup with or without saurez. The number one issue is safety here for luis and his career. I know egos can override other elements. But playing a half fit saurez can do his knee a lot of damage long term. Very few of these injuries have healed in a short space of time. Luis relax and watch your tea mates do there best. And dream of champions league fixtures down the road.
