Tonight was my first time watching lil Rickie. He seemed to have a good awareness for the game, but he looked a bit slow. I'm just going to leave my opinion up in the air for now cause it could just be pre season rust.

I hope he will score against Milan tonight, he was a little bit unlucky against city.

How do you like this song? :

"We always knew he was a Red
      Lambert, Lambert
He is a Scouser Born and Bred
      Lambert, Lambert
We brought the lad from Southampton
He's back again where he belongs

      Rickie Lambert Liverpool's number nine!
La la la la la la la la..."

      - To the tune of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home"

(I absolutely love this song and I would be so happy if we can start singing it again during matches, this time for someone who deserves it)

Fun fact: the original song was written in 1863 by a composer whose pseudonym was Louis Lambert.

It'd be like waiting for one of MJ's yet released singles to come onto the radio.

Ricky is here to help us nick the odd game and steal the odd point and he will do that effectively.

Experience up front can be invaluable.
Everyone laughed at the mancs signing sheringham, but he did exactly what he was bought for, and did it well, sadly.

Not overly inspired by his pre-season games so far, hopefully he will settle into the team well though over the coming weeks.

Looks like a combination of him not quite fitting into the team yet and trying too hard, plus I don't think he's as fit as the other lads, but then it's harder to get fit at his age than it is at 20.

seeing lots of fans slagging him off already.

ridiculous to be honest, we all know that's only pre season and we also know that Lambert was bought as a Plan B striker. Why do some have some type of high expectation on a 32 year old player?

Somewhat reminiscent of Crouchy's days here. Hopefully just a case of trying too hard.

Which is probably why he came back early for preseason.
I wonder did he do that for Southampton.

He didn't start mostly for Southampton did he? That's why maybe his ideally better coming off the bench as he is fitter and can cause more damage.

I am probably wrong but I recall him not always starting.

I'll be patient with Lambert because his nerves might be getting to him at the moment. But he needs to make an impact sooner rather than later. He looks like a lost lamb instead of a 6'2 tank and is having as little an impact on our attack as Aspas at the moment.
