dont want to see him in defence again its not the best place for him. He wasnt terrible in that role its just we lost out and a commanding holding CM by playing him at the back and the amount of money we've spent on CBs we need to start using them. expecting big things from him next season now Gerrards gone and possibly lucas if RAFA comes in sniffing.

He's starting tonight for German in the under-21 tournament. Kick off is at 7:45pm on BT Sport 1 for anybody who is interested.

Can just equalised for Germany, great turn and finish into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Class goal by Can, but still don't see him as a DM, his distribution has been negative. His midfield partner on the other hand has been impressive, Leitner seems like a quality player.

not that he was outstanding in his play
but you can clearly see he is not a back 4/3 player
him and his midfield partner (who looks like a very good player) interchanging positions all the time
just lets hope BR is convinced he is not a defender and just don't play him there again,if not in an emergency

Lets sack all this RB and DM box to box stuff off then and just play him as a striker. The way Gerrard should've played last season no? Well look at his physique he could play up front, strange (in a good way) player he is.

Nice finish, terrible closing down though, he managed 4 short steps before anyone else moved towards him. Neatly slotted in the corner though.

If rumours are true that he's moving into Gerrard's position next season it could cut short his marauding runs and on the edge of the box he always has that something about him that he could have a positive influence. I'd much prefer him moved further forward in our midfield.

Do think that many are expecting a lot from this lad next year and while I think eventually he will be a top class player, next year may still be a year too soon for him.

Overall, Can wasn't anything stand out for me, not in defense or attack. Other than the goal, there were a couple of key moments when he made a wonderful tackle and a marauding run, but other than that, he wasn't good, but neither was he bad. Also, the German manager played Can more of a CM and bought a more defensive player next to Can 2nd half.

No doubt Can is a talented player but I'm still not sure if his best position, definitely not as a RB,
In midfield he is slow on the turn and has a slow acceleration but once he gets motoring he is difficult to stop.
He still needs to get fitter imo as he could be a YAYA type of player which would mean a good DM with him.

Can had a stronger second half, was impressed, but he did tire out I think he is more of a forward thinking CM, but I can't see him playing ahead of Milner or Hendo for now.
