I like him too. Think for him the main issue is the system / role he is being asked to play. He just doesn't have the tactical intelligence and positional / spatial awareness needed to play that position in a pressing side like ours. Henderson has the same issue sometimes, but far less often.

For the first goal today he completely loses Rodriguez and is too late. That's one of his biggest flaws, he just doesn't track runners, he doesn't sense the danger as people like to say, when opposition players move into the pockets of space to his left or right.

For the second goal he presses Krychowiak and he gets beaten far, far too easily which leaves a sh*t ton of space in behind him. Chamberlain does well and takes over the position, but he then completely forgets to track Rodriguez who is in that zone and ends up scoring. Klopp must be absolutely fuming at this goal, so many things went wrong in terms of pressing, picking up positions, picking up opposition players and just allround a lack of communication it seems.

Call me crazy, but I think he'd do far better at Juventus or even Bayern (in Vidal's role for example) where the systems / tactics they use are far less based on movement, picking up positions, rotating in midfield etc. He excels in games where he is given a kind of a free role (the City game for example where Wijnaldum and Chamberlain covered for him a lot of the time while he went pressing and made runs) or in games where he is given a very specific role (Away against the mancs with Fellaini last season for example).

I am no fan of Emre Can (I think it's easy to see based on my post history) but I agree that as a squad option he's useful. He can do specialist roles as you mentioned; he gives us height for the games where it's important, does well in certain games, can cover a number of positions for the odd match. But as a starter, and for the way we play, hell no.

If we kept him as a squad player I'd be OK with that, but the problem is he won't want it, so it's probably better if he leaves. Same as Lovren - I don't trust him as an everyday CB but he is a decent option on the bench. But both of them have been first teamers for too long to be happy with that situation.

Was at the game last night. Surely the most diabolical 'captain's' performance of all time? Along with Moreno and another vintage performance from the greatest clown in the world Simon Mignolet, it was like 2014-15 all over again. The usual suspects eh.

Henderson's not great but he looked like Iniesta compared to Can when he came on. At least he showed some presence in the midfield, and stopped West Brom looking like Barcelona which Can made them look as they sliced through him like a hot knife through butter.

That was f**king shocking from Can yesterday. I don't think either Henderson or Can are starters if we are to talk about a title challenging side, but one of them merits a squad status. And that's certainly not Can.

Good f**king riddance when he leaves.

I am kinda disappointed too. Really don't think he is that bad, and as I mentioned before, probably around the same level as Wijnaldum and Hendo.

Good squad player that has a really good game once in a while, not a bad player to have by any means but can't say he'll be a huge loss once he goes.

Thought this may happen - with Keita coming in its no 'real' loss... However, it could mean that another season of Hendo is on the cards and to be fair I am not sure who I would prefer.

Fair enough he looks like going to be on pace for 30-40 starts this season but I guess should of said was looking forward to where this team wants to be I figure when he first came here 4 years ago was going to be first name in starting XI week-in week-out where in reality with Keita coming be fighting with Gini and Hendo to play beside him.

My only regret is that we aren't getting a transfer fee for him, he is symptomatic of the average midfield we've suffered for too long now. With a good solid energetic midfield playing behind Bobby, Mane and Salah we really could push for the league, first step in that is Keita but we need a top notch DM as well.

Can should go because he is 24 and his development has stagnated. He is not going to get much better than now and he is equal to Hendo and Gini in quality, we slowly need to upgrade all our midfield. He didn't cost much, he isn't worth much and he is on isn't worth a high salary. He is currently on 70k a week. Gini ON 90k and Hendo on 100k, it is no surprise he wants out... but he is not worth a pay rise because he just is not good enough.

I doubt there were many more excited than myself when we first signed Emre.  I really thought he could become something special.  I also said at the time (and still believe to this day) that he is best suited to playing as a CB than anything else.  He has all the makings of a world class CB.  I can't see him ever being more than a mediocre CM.

Strange one this........we talk about not receiving a transfer fee for him but we don't actually know how much he is asking? he coould be demanding things like 10m signing on fee as i'm sure he could demand a similar amount at another club. He could be asking for wages of a £100m player but wants a release clause of £30m.

He has shown great commitment all through his contract, his contract is now coming to an end so as far as i'm concerned if he leaves he can leave with his head held high.

I do feel that more and more players may take a similar action! just look at Sanchez and Ozil! why didn't Arsenal pay Sanchez he wanted 12 month ago? they gambled and lost so ended up paying Ozil what Sanchez wanted all along.

Clubs can either pay up or let players move on.

Good business sense would be if a player hasn't committed to a new contract with 2 years left, sell.............only if its about money!
