I think he'll excel in Italy and will be a star there.
He's gone now.
We move on.
He can do, because Serie A is a much slower league. Players who come from Serie A to Premier League often just can't hack it. Other way around, we've seen with Lucas how average in PL can be very effective in Italy. No offence to Lucas, but we needed better and he was Lazio's player of the season.
There is no high pressing in Italy either. Deep counter attacking tight football in slow motion for high wages? It's a slippery road to retirement, since once he gets used to Italy.. he won't be able to deal with PL or Bundesliga after his contract is up. Development wise he will stagnate there. No doubt if we got Suso back, he'd look nothing like the player at AC Milan. How well did Aaquilani do?
Salah from Roma is an exception so it can't be the same in all cases, but most of the time players perform better in Italy because it is easy to do things slowly than quickly.
I'm not entirely sure how it will effect his international career. No doubt he will be picked for Germany when he does well at Juve, but I suspect he's going to be one of those players that perform better for club than country.
Recently Napoli tried to change things a bit by playing at a higher tempo and they almost won the league last season. Ancelotti has gone there this season, so if he continues to push high tempo football... Napoli could dethrone Juventus.
