Group E Match Topic: ( France, Switzerland, Ecuador, Honduras)
      Jun 15, 2014 06:54:37 pm
Surprised there hasn't been a thread for this one. Switzerland have thrillingly snatched three points from Ecuador in the last minute of stoppage time! Predictions for the Swiss to proceed into the next round with group favourites France are currently on course! Next up at 8pm (UK time) France v Honduras. I think France will do well at this World Cup. Semi finalists possibly? Will also be intrigued to see how Mamadou Sakho gets on. I'm banking on him having an excellent tournament!

Brilliant managerial decision by Deschamps to not bring Nasri to the tournament either. Clearly he's not standing for petulant, juvenile sh*te that would inevitably bring the French squad crashing down.

Exactly. Be interesting to see how they do though and I also reckon they'll get to the quarter's or semi's.

Agree with you completely although it would have been nice to see more of his Mrs :D

Will also be shouting on big Mama to have a great tournament, think this one should be an easy victory for France.

Before the World Cup started France were my outside pick to win it, we played them earlier this year and their midfield just crushed us. I think it's a good thing Ribery is out for them, he wasn't at his best for a while now.

Yep, Sakho has been outstanding and showing a lot of leadership.

Valbuena and Pogba also been fantastic, very unlucky not to be leading by a couple already France. Good performance so far, they just need that goal of course.

Honduras are a joke, kicking chunks out of everyone.

Had £5 on France to win the World Cup last week at approx. 28/1. Hoping they win tonight to take pressure off the Switzerland game. They need to top the group to avoid a possible 2nd round tie with Argentina.

Glad to see him get his second yellow, should have been sent off for the challenge on Pogba.

Hope France score this, they've deserved the lead and I can't stand teams that kick players rather than play the game.

Can't believe he's still going on about it.

It's embarrassing to listen to, it's even worse when you consider you're contributing towards his wages by paying your license fee. It did exactly what it needed to, showed that Benzema didn't score directly, showed that it went in after the contact with the keeper, meaning it can easily be given as an own goal immediately.

As for the way Honduras are conducting themselves they need booting out of the bloody tournament, although it's nice to see Evra get smacked a few times.

It was a special offer thing with Paddy Power. I put it on the day after Ribery was ruled out.

I knew before kick off that Valbuena was a good player but he's surprised me exactly how technically good he is. Heard he's meant to be leaving Marseille this summer, shame we won't be in for him.

This is normal, actually maybe a bit reserved for them.  Just be glad you only have to see it during the World Cup.  We have to watch them in Gold Cup and
      World Cup Qualifiers.

Very nice offer that fella. I think the Argies will probably win it but thought France were the value at 20's which I have, but at 28's you might even get the chance to lay it off later down the line.

Thought myself that they have a very good group of players that haven't really been given much of a mention. Valbuena has been the pick tonight though that's for sure, very good performance.

Great finish. Not a big fan of Benzema and this Honduras keeper has played well but there was no saving that, even though it's close range from that angle at that power one of Benzema's better goals that.

      Typical Dave :(

Excellent performance by France that though. While Honduras were never at the races you've still got to break them down and I thought France looked capable of that every time they attacked.

Big Mama had one dodgy moment but besides that was very strong and I thought Valbuena was MotM, great performances by Griezmann and Matuidi.

Thought we had it in the bag mate, then on came Giroud... :(

Oh well gone for similar for the Argies, running about even at the moment with my scores but had a couple of these just 1 away now.

Has to be a good bet for Honduras to get a man sent off in every match though. They're worse than the Cameroon back in the Roga Milla days.

I've done a scorecast for the involvement. Messi, 3-1.

My Dad's favourite score that (3-1) does it in every single match he has a bet in, it's religious.

Can see the logic in the saver too.

Argentina really do arrive here with a massive amount of expectation on their shoulders and I don't think Messi has been near his usual quality this year, not sure that's got an awful lot to do with his injury either, just looks like a prolonged dip to me. Of course a slip in form for one of the best ever still puts him as an outstanding player just not head and shoulders above the rest.

If I had to pick a player to really shine I'd pick Aguero, a lot of strikers have hit the ground running, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a good start too.

Looking forward to this one. I see France as one of only two European teams who will go far in this tournament, the other being Germany (who I hope and think will win it). Like the way they mix it up, short passes, long passes, excellent tempo and a high level of consistency throughout their team. Thought the Swiss did well against Ecuador as well so should be a good match.

I'm struggling to find motivation to watch, Ecuador vs Honduras tonight. Might be the 1st match I'll miss!

I've missed a few over the last few days and I'm thinking of giving it a miss.

I'll see how the first half goes and see how tired I am.

Still reckon France or Germany to win it if it's not Brazil with the home (dis)advantage.
