      Ask yourself this:

Our scouts are supposedly scouting not only Europe, but the whole world, looking for the best players at the right prices who can fit into our squad.

Does it really, truly make sense that out of ALL the players available, the best options are three (for sure and possibly a fourth) players from a midtable team that finished 8th last season and only a few years ago was in the Championship?

really?  they scoured the planet and the best they could come up with was Lallana for an absurd fee, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren and Jay Rodriguez?

      really?

Seem ridiculous to say the least.

      Yep.

Maybe we thought they were a better fit and those players wanted to come for us.

I'm pretty sure we don't only scout in the Premier League.

Looks to be Spurs bound with Schneiderlin.

Hope Koeman has taken a good set of boots with him.

Pretty sure we would hv had a meltdown here, had we signed a squad player (Chambers) for 16mil

But since its our rival, many **** here would laud that move as a master stroke and an extraordinary long term investment

      Crazy ain't it?

Proper, full blown asset- stripping. Yer woman is getting more for the players than she would have had she just sold the F***ing club.

      It's just wrong.  >:D

Not really. A fire sale would suggest knock down prices.
Southampton look more like they're selling at a peak before the market crashes.

Rodriguez can go to Spurs for all I care but I think Schneiderlin is the one player this summer who would have been a perfect fit for us.

      Lallana - whatever.
Lambert - not going to play much anyway.
      Lovren - overpriced.

But Schneiderlin would have been able to step in right away and take over for Lucas, and he wouldn't have cost an arm and a leg either.

Would've loved him here.  Looks like it won't happen though.

Saints are demanding £27 million for Schneiderlin. I'd keep Lucas before I'd pay that amount. How can you dismiss Lallana as a whatever signing when he was Southampton's star performer last season yet you would love Schneiderlin?

Southamptons team must have been worth about 300 million quid at this rate. How the f*ck did they only finish eighth? Poccacino must be sh!te.

Some players have been overpaid for. Some of their players values is dependent on potential. But the key reason they finished 8th is because is they have worse depth than we did. They were right up there in the top four early in the season and fell away as injuries took hold.

To be honest the main reason they finished 8th was because they couldn't score.

Their two main strikers Lambert & Rodriguez scored only 28 goals between them (3 less than Luis/6 more than Danny). In fact, their whole team (including Adam Lallana's 9) only scored 1 more than Luis & Danny. [we have bought 2 out of their top 3 goalscorers and are linked (here) with the other]

Their defence was very solid to start with but went to sh*t when Boruc was injured; improving again when he came back [14 clean sheets in 2577 minutes - 1 clean sheets every 184 mins played].

We definitely had a better first XI; we definitely had better strikers; our defence shipped a few more goals [4] but I'm not sure (when it came to 'depth', outside the first XI), that they were "much worse".  :-\

Nah... it was definitely a lack of goals.
