Finally starting to show what a good player he could be for us. I don't think he's ever played as left wing back in his life but even so, he's been good. His future is surely on a different position though.

Part of me wants to see Moreno play wingback and give Markovic a free role.
      He was everywhere.

                                  Jones

                Toure          Skrtel          Sakho

      Henderson     Lucas        Gerrard        Moreno

                Lallana       Markovic       Coutinho/Sterling

I think he's a lot more effective  cutting in from the wings to be honest. He'll also find more space out wide, making his pace more effective.

I think its a bit too much to compare him to Owen and Messi.
:D. Their playing style is entirely different. I said his runs reminded me of the Owen. Like , it will look like he is just using his pace to run away from defenders, but they are wrong footing the defenders with a subtle drop of the shoulder. Coutinho uses the same skill, but because of his lack of pace defenders will easily catch up with him.

No. All Owen would ever do is knock it a few yards in front of everyone and then totally rape everyone with his pace like what Walcott does and then do his hamstring.

I agree, Moreno seems ideal for that position and I think a bit more freedom for Markovic would help him to flourish.

Thought he showed more promise again yesterday, he lost the ball in poorly in the wrong areas at times though, being new to the position could account for some of it.

As well as a lack of football up until recently.

Well at least it's fairly obvious now why we signed this lad. At 20 years old he has the capability to be an absolute monster. It may or may not happen as he's still very raw and doesn't know himself what type of player he's going to end up being, but he could be very special indeed.

He has all the markings of a player that will leave us for close to 100 million in a few years.
I'm looking forward to his time here, and hope he sticks around longer than Suarez did.

Reminds me even more of Peter Barnes now when he runs at defenders but not at full pace.

      oh ye of little faith.

I hope that those saying he is sh*te are hanging their heads in shame.

If so, Nedum Onuoha would be one hell of a dribbler. They are not just about their pace.

Think many were saying he hadn't been contributing anything, and he hadn't been.  He's definitely improved recently, and let's hope it continues, cause we need him (and some others) form to improve to get us movin on up. If he starts producing regularly and against the big sides, then the money will deffo look well spent.

I agree mate, he got a lot of stick right off the bat because I think everyone expected him to hit the ground running. Glad to see he's starting to shine a little more now.

Which is insane considering the kid is only 20!

If this lad keeps up his performance he'll nail his position in the starting 11 for some time to come . in the mean time he needs to start holding possession more and stop wasting chances on goal . his pace is extremely rapid in getting clear of his marker and reminds me of Torres's pace .

I think in a front three with Sturridge and Sterling he will be devastating.

Which is odd considering he had an injury, and just like Can was behind in terms of fitness because of it.
On top of that, he was always going to take time to settle.
I'm not expecting to see the best of him for a while yet, but in a couple of years, if his development continues, I think he'll be world class.
If we can hold onto him until he's at least 26 (assuming development again) he'll be a player who can really make a difference.

Am I the only one here who still hasn't been impressed by him as of yet?

I still see a lack of confidence which is understandable as he's being played out of position and it's his first season in the PL, though I have yet to see flashes of brilliance and the flair and skill an attacking player should have. Still unsure on him.

Like, I'm with you in that if he were 26 I wouldn't be impressed with him for 20mil, but given that anything I think of to criticize him are the sort of things that all players develop from 20 onwards and what he has shown is pretty damn rare and special for a 20 year old, I can't agree with you - he's got something.

He seemed to lack a lot of sharpness when first playing at the start of the season, so much so that his touch was poor, but thankfully, sharpness was all it was - his ball control and first touch is actually very good. Would be great to see him get a long run in the starting eleven.
