                               Mignolet
         Manquillo Sakho Lovren Moreno
                                 Gerrard
            Henderson.              Emre can
                                 Lallana
                      Sterling.      Ballotelli

Bench ;  Jones, Toure,  Enrique,  Allen,  Coutinho,  Lambert,  BorinI

Gerrard won't be dropped /rested, he's had a rest, I'd play the X1 above and let Adam loose to supply and create for the mad one and Raheem, with plenty of support from the two WB'S, and with Ste, Hendo & Can controlling midfield we should have a nice day out,

3-1 Redmen, Balo,  Raheem,  and Lambert with the goodies.

I think last yr we had a good season ie in the league, relative to expectations because Raheem had a good
season in terms of play, even if his goal tally was modest (as to be expected given his experience level).

This yr, Markovich MIGHT carry us a little given we have had the immense blow of losing Luis and a further tho moderate deterioration of Gerrard (as we can expect).

The other big wild card as I see it, is Lallana.

Oh God We can make a team of world record of the "L" in name of our all 11 starter, it's 17 "L" here  :D

Besides a joke, I'd put Sakho and Stevie instead of Lucas and Toure in that team for Villa game if Hendo cannot play.

How far we've come since then.

                            Mignolet
      Manquillo  Skrtel  Lovren  Moreno
                            Gerrard
                        Hendo   Allen
         Sterling    Sturridge    Coutinho

Only three changes from last season. Personally I feel it's the team cohesion in what we are lacking. I like the balance of this team. I feel each individual offers something completely different. Sterling, Coutinho and Sturridge (given he's fit for Everton) would all provide a nice attacking balance to the team. Coutinho's link up play with Sturridge is 2nd the none. Sturridge is our only forward who makes runs off the last defender. He is different to Raheem Sterling, who himself prefers to run at players. They both do, but the point I'm making is that they are different players, and Coutinho would link up well with them in this system.

I actually do not mind Joe Allen. He has his good games too, for which he rarely gets credit for. I think it's obvious why I chose his XI. It's not too dissimilar to last seasons XI, which proved to be a winning formula. Why break that?

Many people will disagree but I think at present, Markovic, Lallana and Balotelli are disruptive to our system. That could change, but neither play in accordance to our 13/14 style and this could be having an effect.

Mignolet, Flanagan, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Sturridge, Suarez - epic!

The crawl along to the Jan window team:-

This seems to be our shortlist.

      Mignolet/Valdes
      Manquillo/Flanagan (maybe even Johnson???)
      Moreno/Enrique
      Sakho/Skrtel
      Lovren
      Can??
      Henderson
Lallana 1st?? and then Gerrard OR Coutinho OR Markovich
      Sterling
      Sturridge
      Balotelli

I wonder if Lallana should be given the debateable role, ahead of Gerrard and Coutinho?
Thats IF Can settles in quickly. Just a guess, but thats how I'd start some league games for now.

Maybe January onwards Markovich will have settled and can start more instead of Lallana.

I just dont see us having a best 11. Partly because of the huge number of games. And more
importantly because our 1st 11 just doesnt look balanced, and needs to be changed for indiv opponents.

Perhaps the way to start is to ask, "if we only had the league this yr, and no cups, who would we play as 1st 11?"

For some games, I might drop Balo, or add Gerrard or Markovich. Balo can always be brought on as an alternative if Sturr and Sterling are being snuffed out.

Its sad to see, but everything looks a bit cobbled together in transfer policy. It really is a team lacking its heart and soul at the moment. And outside of our leader, it was a team was gaps last yr anyway.

      ...................Migno let
      Johnson...Skrtel...Toure ...Moreno
      ......................E. Can
      .............Hendo....Co utinho
      .....Sterling....Borini. ...Lallana

I would drop Lovren, Gerrard, and Balotelli instantly. I feel these three players are at present, holding us up. Lovren has probably been our worst regular player this season and looks a former of his shadow self. Why that is I do not know, but he's certainly not playing like a top center back. Kolo Toure put in a better shift (against RM) than any of our CB's have put in this season. Did his solid performance against some of the best attackers in the world not merit a start against Chelsea?

Gerrard has little to no impact on a game anymore. It's time for him to be used as an impact sub in a more offensive position. Save his legs. Emre Can can take his place in the meantime. He's stronger, quicker, more energetic, has a decent range of passing, and could well be the future of our midfield.

Mario Balotelli is the biggest liability to our team right now. Drop him immediately. Playing him is like playing with 10 men, but sometimes it's like playing with 9 men. His inability to get back onside actually brings the game to an abrupt stop and gifts the possession back to the opposition. We'd do better with 10 men than to have 10 men + Balotelli. Drop him Brendan!

We need a dynamic and hardworking front three. I believe Sterling, Lallana and Borini can offer that to us. Why is Borini not getting a game for us I do not know. What is Brendan seeing in Balotelli ahead of him? Lallana is also a decent hardworking player who has the ability to create his own space. Again, why didn't Lallana see any of the action against Chelsea at the weekend? That I do not know, but these decisions that Brendan is making is starting to really concern myself and many other Liverpool fans.

When all fit, change Flanagan for either Moreno or Johnson (depending who is putting in the better performances), and put in Sturridge for Borini.

Lovren has to up his game. Worst LFC player this season. I would say Markovic, but he's only had a handful of playing time in comparison.

Right now we need to play a team that can defend and attack.

      Not for me lads.

I still think a lot of Mignolet's poor form stems from what goes on in front of him.

As it stands right now I'd have the following but as soon as Sakho was fit he'd be straight in as well.

      Mignolet

      Manquillo  Skrtel  Toure  Moreno

      Lucas

      Can  Coutinho

      Sterling  Borini  Lallana
