If Moreno, Johnson, Enrique and Flanno are all out injured, could we perhaps see three at the back with Sterling and Manquillo as wing backs? I wouldn't fancy having Sakho or Agger against the pace of Lamela/Lennon/Townsend whoever it is.

Yes, I'd use Sterling there like last season and have someone help out; like Markovic who has a great work rate and isn't just one sided by being an attack minded.
So either Markovic helping out on the left or right depending on where Spurs are finding room. The boss can give him the nod once we start playing.
(if all other wing backs are injured)

I think the sh*te from Spurs started when Sir Roger Hunt kept Jimmy Greaves out of the England team .I always liked the story  about Tommy Smith handing Jimmy Greaves a piece of paper before kick off at Anfield, Greaves said is this the team sheet, Tommy replied it is the menu for the Royal Hospital as that is where you will be eating for the next few days.

don't you miss the good old days. Can't remember anyone diving (other than Francis Lee) even after Tommy had scythed through them. But to be fair he did warn them

Haha remember that Billy and if the Anfield Iron informed you'd be eating hospital food quite soon it would worry anyone.

sorry to go of on one but remember whe he took penalties at Wembley for a charity event or something and promptly had his disability benefit stopped classic.

The way it looked to me was if it would take more than a week to recover from that (Moreno). Done my ankle many times playing footy on bad pitches and if you're lucky it's a 2 week deal. Wouldn't surprise me if he actually takes a week longer as with sprains the more rest you can give them the better the recovery, it's a long old season and we should be able to cope.

Worst case is Emre Can starting at LB.

Manquillo should be perfect to step into RB though and I can't stress strongly enough how we need to be starting Markovic, not sure on his actual fitness levels so haven't included him in my set-up but if he's ready he'd be in. Get Coutinho in his natural position, or at least fighting for it with Sterling and Whack Balo/Studge up top. 2 games so far we've had to start with very defensive minded midfields and it knocks all attacking impetus out of our game.

Tired of hearing the "we're missing Suarez" sh*te when we're playing with 3 very negative midfielders, even Suarez struggled in games where he didn't get support and service.

Spurs are going to be a tough nut though and this will be very tough game for us. I very much doubt there will be a repeat of last year's result (although I never expected it then so... :D ) Get a narrow win and I'll be delighted.

                          Mig
      Manquillo Skrtel   Lovren Can
                      Gerrard
            Sterling         Henderson
                      Coutinho
               Sturridge  Balotelli

I'd be going with something like that with strict instructions to Manquillo to drive forward and be positive.

      3-1 to the Reds!

Gonna head down towards White Hart lane for this and see if can get a ticket.

We need to display a solid performance in the league. I want to see us go out all hells blazing and show whats within this squad.

We're away from home, why not.

Don't know if we will win this match but we better not lose it. Two defeats in three games would create a negative atmosphere for the team.

I would play Ballotelli, Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho.

We concede goals anyway so what's the point playing Allen or Can in a midfield 3. Gerrard and Henderson will have to do the defensive work while the others concentrate on scoring goals.

I wouldn't mind seeing a 3-5-2 formation for this game.  I would go with...

                       Mignolet
              Skrtel  Lovren  Sakho
      Manquillo                    Sterling
                        Gerrard
         Henderson          Markovic
                 Balotelli  Sturridge

I have a feeling we will see Lambert start and Balotelli to come on in the second half.

      -------------------Mignolet----------------
      Manquillo--Skrtel----Lovren-------Moreno/Enrique/Sakho

      -------------------Gerrard----------------
      ----Henderson------------Markovic-----
      -------------------Sterling-----------------
      ----------Lambert----Sturridge----------

I hope Moreno is fit, him and Markovic could bring some thunder on that left side. Hope to see Lallana get some action in the second half, if he is fit.

Yep, true scumbags are the Spurs fans. Cannot stand them myself. Last season they were pleasantly quiet but when thing start going their way, they are as cocky as football fans get.

Agreed. F***ing johnny come lately cu*ts them.

I don't think this will be as easy as last season. I think we will have a battle on this time, especially if we are short on fullbacks due to injuries.

Might be time to try 3 at the back if Flanagan and Enrique aren't fit?

Could even solve my problem of having 12 players in my team :)

                                             Henderson

                                    Sturridge      Balotelli

I have to my shame gone for a draw in this game .... still hoping for a win though.

Like three at the back but wouldn't put Agger in ahead of Sakho. Sakho is a much better defender in my opinion and a better passer as well.

I am the opposite mate, I don't like 3 at the back under normal circumstances and only chose it now because it is a simple solution to our lack of fit fullbacks. I think Agger is the better player although I agree that Sakho is the better passer. Agger's passing has been over-rated for years.

Curious too as to whether Agger is really injured or if it's the whole "he's out the door" guise. Guess we may not know till Monday.

A lot depends on injuries when it comes to the starting XI
Seems Johnson is definitely out, Skrtel and Moreno are doubts, and despite the rumours Enrique is actually fit (pics of him in training today/yday)
      I would go

                                            Mignolet
                           Manquillo   Lovren  Sakho  Enrique
                                            Gerrard
                                    Henderson    Coutinho
                                  Sterling         Markovic
                                          Sturridge

Jones; Toure, Can; Allen; Lallana, Balotelli, Lambert

Think we look a lot better with 2 strikers but this is a more attacking XI than what played v City and I think we need that.
Would expect Balotelli and Lallana to get some game time, potentially could even start.

Think its important to get the win to take our minds away from the City game, 5-0 again would be great but I think 3-1 Sturridge, Gerrard + Balotelli

Yeah, seems a convenient injury whether it was genuine or not. If Agger is injured I suppose I will have to include your love child Sakho :)

If we could, I'd go for:

      Balotelli
      Balotelli  Balotelli  Balotelli  Balotelli
      Balotelli
      Balotelli       Balotelli
      Balotelli    Balotelli    Balotelli

We all dream of a team of Balotelli's!!  It would be the first match in history for all 11 players on one team to get ejected from a game  :lmao:

Watching Spurs at the mo (albeit a very different side to the one we will see on Sunday) and they are pressing all over the pitch as you would expect. With that in mind I'd ply our speedsters in the front three positions and play Coutinho with his quick feet (to beat the press) just behind them. Definitely no Balotelli in my starting line-up.

      I'd go with:

                               Mignolet

      Manquillo.       Lovren.      Sakho      Moreno

                       Henderson.       Gerrard

         Sterling               Coutinho.          Markovic

Time to change things up. Would bring on Markovic after 45 mins. Give the other members of the squad a run out, with Cou/Hendo on the bench after a poor performance last time around.
