Fabio Borini makes his first start of the season while Martin Skrtel returns from injury for Liverpool against West Ham United at Upton Park this evening.

The Italian striker joins compatriot Mario Balotelli and Raheem Sterling in a front three in London.

Meanwhile, Skrtel replaces Mamadou Sakho in defence to partner Dejan Lovren and there's also a starting berth for Lucas Leiva in midfield.

Hope Lucas is the one sitting rather than Gerrard. Gerrard has been non existent in that defensive role this season(inc preseason), so Lucas coming in makes sense. As for Gerrard in a box-box role, I am not sure

The way things have gone recently, not surprised to see Borini in. Bit surprised to see Lucas, though retaining possession better might be reason with Coutinho and Lallana a bit wasteful with the ball recently.
If WH get the upper hand though for periods would be a tad worried about the pace/closing down of SG and Lucas, so need good movement from Borini, Mario and Sterling to keep WH busy/pinned back as much as possible.
Disappointing that Lallana/Markovic not up to starting, but hopefully they're on the bench and get a chance to show pace coming on.

Wonder what the odds of Lucas getting a yellow card is.

Like everyone when I saw Gerrard and Lucas in the same 11 I sighed. Clearly lallana and Coutinho and being let know that poor performances won't be accepted.

Hopefully Gerrard is pushed on but doubt it. Glad to see Borini start. His movement will give them something to chase. Hopefully our poor midfield will provide enough supply.

My worry is now if skrtel or Lovren have a poor game will BR continue to change his back 2? Sakho and Lovren should have been given atleast 10 games.

Really surprised Brendan dropped Sakho for Skrtel as he normally only changes CB for an injury. Maybe suggests who he see's as his number one pairing.

Also don't like Lucas/Gerrard midfield so interested to see how that one plays out.

Ye I think Lucas will be in the advanced role which he played against ludo. Not sure he has the stones for that role either.

I think we may see Lucas playing further forward as he has a couple of times when he has come on as a sub. (more like Allen does)
