Tough next 3 games, and probably need to be taking at least 5 pts from em / avoid defeat against Spuds & Saints.
Just think we've looked a bit tired in last 2 matches. Playing a lot more games than last season, and it's starting to show. Out of jail vs Bolton and pedestrian enough against a poor Everton. Still in the FA, and also have them Europa games to come aswell.
Really want us to get top4, but looking at our fixtures (am taking as a given that Chavs and Shitty will be in top4)  Ushited are in nothing else, while Arse/Spuds and they're ability to score (which we lack), it's a different kettle of fish to last year. Saint too look like they might be slower to fade than expected.
Not impossible, but Studge needs to hit form soon, start knocking a few in to spark things. Still disappointed we didn't try to sign a striker in Jan, you look at Defoe, it can freshen things up. So frustrating to see Mario/Fabio and to slightly lesser extent Rickie so ineffective and yet nothing done.

Beating Spuds would put down a marker though, that we can put away one of the competitors for top4. Give confidence for the games against Saints and City, which are winnable, though deffo not easy. Hope BR really goes for it.

Either way, top 4 or not, still backing BR to be here next season, rectify our striking gap in the summer and come back stronger next season.

If we want to get into the top 4 we need 7 points from the next 3 games.

Aim for the sky and go for 9 points from the next 3 games, better still aim not to lose again this season.

True that. Dramatic maneouvre of Can into DM and Manquillo or Johnson as RCB?

Gerrard just cant start in DM.
Allen aint cut out for it neither...

Lovren in DM? Crazyville but could just work... Ha

Can would be my choice too... and the Lovern idea makes more sence than Gerrard and Allen playing DM because we KNOW FOR A FACT that they cant do it

It's on. It's going to be one hell of a scrap - Spurs really impressed me today and I don't think any of the 5 teams chasing those two spots will drastically drop off come May.

I thought they were great today and against Arsenal... And we beat em by not even playing close to our best.

The Scum looks the most likely. I can smell an upset tomorrow.

Because there are so many chasing for two spots (and on current form, it is not inconceivable that City could make it 6 teams chasing 3 spots) it is guaranteed that some will drop off because all the chasing teams have to play each other enough times left in the season that there enough relevant points which must be dropped.

I voted yes, but it could honestly goto anyone. We have the form, but we also have european football along with Arsenal and Spurs. For me tho i think Southampton will sneak in this year, i honestly do. Just been looking at the fixture list and they've got a quite comfy run in compared to the rest of the teams challenging. As for Man U their only saving factor IMO is their lack of cup competitions because the displays on the pitch have been piss poor, plus they have a hard month in March.

Europa games are notorious for F***ing up teams league form. If we go far it could be at the demise of the league form. Hopefully Southampton and City arent the start of the mare.

Next couple of games will be interesting.

We have Southampton (A) and City (H)

Spurs have West Ham (H) and Chelsea (A)

United have Swansea (A) and Sunderland (H)

Arsenal have Crystal Palace (A) and Everton (H)

Southampton have us (H) and WBA (A)

We obviously have the two toughest games but if we pick up 6 points we will be right in the mix. Lose against Southampton and it's game over. We would be 7 points behind them with 12 games to go. Win at Southampton and we are a point behind them with 12 games to go. A huge difference.

I expect Spurs to drop points in the next 2 games but predict Arsenal and United will take maximum points. We need to stay with them for when we come head to head. We play United end of March and then Arsenal immediately after at the start of April.

Some big games coming up for us but if we win the head to heads I'm pretty sure we will finish top 4. It's still in our hands.

How come Utd always seem to have an easy match? I know they aint, but it seems they play burnley or QPR every week...

It isn't game over if we lose to anybody at the moment.

you can look at the table all day long but the facts remain simple:

      1.  13 games to play
      2.  39 points to play for
      3.  FIVE points from 3rd

      And most importantly

      4.  Anybody can and will beat anybody

We could lose our next 4 games and still be in with a shout the way this season is going.  I remember walking out of Anfield when Villa beat us and hearing people saying that's it now, game over we won't make the top 6.

Too much gloom and doom out there.

There are five teams fighting for two places.

If we have a poor run of form all of a sudden then we are hoping that four teams will all have a poor run of form too.

As you said, we are already five points away from 3rd with 13 games remaining. So lets say we do lose 4 games from now until the end of the season - we would then need United, Arsenal, Spurs and Southampton to all lose at least 5 each, but more like 6 or 7. Is that likely to happen?

The head to heads are massive and if Southampton beat us in our next game then they go 7 points ahead of us with 12 games left.  We would need them to lose at least 3 games and for us to take maximum points too (as well as hoping the other three lose the same amount of points).

      Southampton is a massive game.

      Nah.
Lose the next 4 and it's game over.

Liverpool need to maintain current form of 2.3 to secure over 70 points.
      I think that'll be needed.

At this rate 70-74 points is probably what 3rd and 4th will finish on.

Right. In the last 6 games the gap taken out of the above teams has been:
      United - 3 points.
      Arsenal/Spurs - 2 points.
      Southampton - 1 point.

Continue that rate and Liverpool finish 3rd by 1 or 2 points.

      Edit:
If you wanted to presume City's terrible form would continue post Toure returning. (It won't)
5 points were taken out of City's lead in the last 6 games. At that rate Liverpool could well be 2nd.

Like I said though, I don't think that will happen.

8 in Europa and 2 in FA to reach the final.
